Tectonic Inception in Caledonide Marbles

open access: yesActa Carsologica, 2006
A fundamental difference between caves in sedimentary limestones and those formed in a repeatedly-glaciated 40000 km2 region in central Scandinavia that contains over 1000 individual marble outcrops and has nearly 1000 recorded karst caves is the ...

Cap‐oPMN: Oral Inflammatory Load Quantification Using Capillary Microfluidics and Automated Image Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Quantifying oral polymorphonuclear neutrophils (oPMNs) is a clinically validated approach for assessing periodontal inflammation. However, current methods, such as manual hemocytometry and flow cytometry, are time‐consuming (>3 h), require invasive sampling, and depend on staining and complex instrumentation, making them unsuitable for point ...

Analysis of karst-fractured aquifers flows of the Lagoa Santa Karst EPA region, MG

open access: yesRevista Águas Subterrâneas, 2019
The study area, which encompasses the Environmental Protection Area (EPA) of the Lagoa Santa Karst, has an extension of 504 km2. In this region, metalimestones from the Sete Lagoas Formation occur, composed by Pedro Leopoldo and Lagoa Santa members ...

Magnetic Textiles: A Review of Materials, Fabrication, Properties, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Magnetic textiles (M‐textiles) are emerging as a programmable materials platform that merges magnetic matter with hierarchical textile structures. This article consolidates magnetic material classes, textile architectures, and fabrication and magnetization strategies, revealing structure–property–function relationships that govern magneto‐mechanical ...

Middle Jurassic Tracks of Sauropod Dinosaurs in a Deep Karst Cave in France

open access: yesJournal of Vertebrate Paleontology, 2019
Although the deep galleries of natural underground cavities are difficult to access and are sometimes dangerous, they have the potential to preserve trace fossils. Here, we report on the first occurrence of sauropod dinosaur tracks inside a karstic cave.

Chameleonic Color‐Variable Microbead Emitters for Multilevel Spectroscopic Encryption from Visible to Infrared Wavelengths

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Whispering‐gallery‐mode microresonators with sharp resonant peaks enable photonic barcoding. Similar to a chameleon, a rare‐earth‐free microcavity with π‐conjugated PAHs enables visibleto‐near infrared color generation from a single microbead. The unique resonat emission (spectral barcode) can be dynamically transformed via excitation wavelength change,

A Biomarker‐Driven Ovary–Endometrium Organ‐on‐a‐Chip Mimicking 3D Multicellular Complexity and Menstrual Cyclicity for Predicting Reproductive Toxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a dual‐organ, biomarker‐integrated ovaryendometrium organ‐on‐a‐chip that recapitulates 3D tissue complexity, menstrual cycle dynamics, and hormonal crosstalk. This platform enables real‐time, cell‐typespecific fluorescent readouts of reproductive toxicity using ANGPTL4 and SERPINB2 as early‐response reporters.

Targeting Lactate and Lactylation in Cancer Metabolism and Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lactate, once deemed a metabolic waste, emerges as a central regulator of cancer progression. This review elucidates how lactate and its epigenetic derivative, protein lactylation, orchestrate tumor metabolism, immune suppression, and therapeutic resistance.

A de Finetti Representation Theorem for Quantum Process Tomography

open access: yes, 2003
In quantum process tomography, it is possible to express the experimenter's prior information as a sequence of quantum operations, i.e., trace-preserving completely positive maps.
