Drivers of ant composition, richness, and trophic guilds in Neotropical iron ore cavities
Subterranean habitats may be considered limiting for animal colonization, especially for ants, due to permanent darkness and mainly because of oligotrophic conditions.

Nanosecond pulse laser texturing yields superhydrophobic and superhydrophilic AA2024 surfaces. Salt‐spray tests show that periodic superhydrophobic patterns suppress pitting, whereas superhydrophilic textures enhance it, linking laser‐induced morphology, wettability, and oxide chemistry to corrosion resistance.

Seismic signatures of carbonate caves affected by near-surface absorptions
The near-surface absorption within a low-velocity zone generally has an exponential attenuation effect on seismic waves. But how does this absorption affect seismic signatures of karstic caves in deep carbonate reservoirs? Seismic simulation and analysis

Multiplex Modular Nanorobotic Systems with Catalytic Activity under Magnetic Navigation
We present modular nanorobots composed of a magnetic propulsion module and different extension modules carrying functional activities, assembled via DNA base pairing. The system integrates propulsion, optical tracking, enzymatic catalysis, and cell docking in a programmable manner.

Features of deep cave sediments: their influence on fossil preservation
We analyse how physical and chemical deep-cave sediment features preserve the morphological and geochemical characteristics of paleontological materials. Detrital sediment chemistry and clast size are fundamental because they provide a soft, impervious and plastic environment in which fossil remains are transported with minimal erosion.

Soft-tissue specimens from pre-European extinct birds of New Zealand [PDF]
We provide the first complete review of soft tissue remains from New Zealand birds that became extinct prior to European settlement (c. AD 1800). These rare specimens allow insights into the anatomy and appearance of the birds that are not attainable ...

Deep Skull from Niah Cave and the Pleistocene Peopling of Southeast Asia [PDF]
The Deep Skull from Niah Cave in Sarawak (Malaysia) is the oldest anatomically modern human recovered from Southeast Asia. For more than 50 years opinions about its relevance to tracing the prehistory of recent people in the region have been in a state of flux.

Flexible piezoresistive pressure sensors underpin wearable and soft electronics. This review links sensing physics, including contact resistance modulation, quantum tunneling and percolation, to unified materials/structure design. We highlight composite and graded architectures, interfacial/porous engineering, and microstructured 3D conductive networks

Effects of Karst Cave on the Stability of Diaphragm Walls During Ultra-Deep Excavation
Ultra-deep excavations in karst areas pose a substantial risk due to the presence of unknown karst caves. However, the literatures on deep excavations in karst regions remain limited and lack comprehensive discussion.

Koonalda Cave, Nullarbor Plain, South Australia – issues in optical and radiometric dating of deep karst caves [PDF]
Koonalda Cave is located on the Nullarbor Plain of South Australia and is one of 17 deep karst caves in this region. In 2014, the cave was listed as a National Heritage Place in recognition of its significant archaeological and cultural heritage features.
