An analysis, based on the energetic stability criterion combined with numerical calculations, for the hydraulic drawing of tapered cylindrical cups is developed in this paper. As the calculation shows, the limiting drawing ratio strongly depends on the pressure during hydraulic drawing. The theoretical and experimental results agree wall.

Abstract This article illustrates the mechanics of the deep drawing of a cylindrical cup. It discusses the fundamentals of drawing and drawability. Sheet metal is drawn in either hydraulic or mechanical presses. The article summarizes the defects in drawing and factors considered in press selection for drawing.

Deep Drawing Height Analysis of Rectangular Cup Drawing
Volume 3: Design and Manufacturing, Parts A and B, 2010The deep drawing process is widely used in industry because it allows the production of parts with reduced weight and good mechanical properties. However, the deep drawing process of non-cylindrical shapes still relies on experimental and trial and error methods, leading to high costs and long development times.

Process optimisation in deep drawing
Revue Européenne des Éléments Finis, 2000Summary: We propose a numerical technique for process optimization applied to the deep drawing of sheet metals. This technique is based on the combination of an optimization algorithm and finite element method. The optimization algorithm is based on the gradient method and on the sensitivity analysis, and allows to optimize process parameters in order ...

Deep drawing of superplastic material
Metals Technology, 1976AbstractA technique of deep drawing superplastic sheet material is described in which a differential temperature between the sheet and punch is used. With super plastic ZAM, the drawability obtained with this technique is significantly greater than that obtained with conventional materials or with superplastic materials using other techniques.

The deep drawing of thermoplastics
Polymer Engineering & Science, 1977AbstractThe theory of deep drawing, which has been developed for metals, is examined critically for thermoplastics. Two special characteristics of thermoplastics, the strong orientation hardening after initial yielding and the ease of crack formation and growth, are shown to vitiate the usual correlation between the drawability of the sheet and the low

This research work presents recent results on the formability of paper-based materials. Different kinds of commercial paperboard samples were evaluated using a laboratory 2D - formability tester, and a 3D deep-drawing equipment. It was found that the appearance of the formed shapes and the performance of paperboard in the forming process have a ...

The term metal forming refers to a group of manufacturing methods by which the given shape of a workpiece (a solid body) is converted to another shape without change in the mass or composition of the material of the workpiece. In this paper, the basics of a deep drawing process for the production of a thick plate steam boiler end caps are shown.
