Combined Application of Optical Fibers and CRLD Bolts to Monitor Deformation of a Pit-in-Pit Foundation

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2019
“Pit-in-pit” foundations, where the overall pit is divided into inner and outer pits, present a wide range of engineering problems and yet have received little detailed study.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Application Research of BIM Technology in Computer Aided Design of Building Foundation

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2016
With the rapid development of the domestic high-rise buildings, the scale and depth of deep excavation pit projects are also expanding. More and more deep foundation pit appear in built-up and densely populated areas, which imposes higher requirements on

Assessment of Waterlogging Risk in the Deep Foundation Pit Projects Based on Projection Pursuit Model

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
As a result of global climate change and urbanization, waterlogging disasters have occurred frequently around the world, and deep foundation pit projects with lower terrain suffer even more.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Late Eocene bryozoan faunas in the Alpine-Carpathian region - a comparison [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Twelve Priabonian (Late Eocene) bryozoan faunas of the Alps and Carpathians, collected from shallow to deep marine sediments, are compared by similarity indices.

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Far-from-equilibrium dynamics of a strongly coupled non-Abelian plasma with non-zero charge density or external magnetic field

open access: yes, 2015
Using holography, we study the evolution of a spatially homogeneous, far from equilibrium, strongly coupled N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills plasma with a non-zero charge density or a background magnetic field.

Tuning the Dielectric Properties of Individual Clay Nanosheets by Interlayer Composition: Toward Nano‐Electret Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of
