Fluid pressure drops during stimulation of segmented faults in deep geothermal reservoirs [PDF]
Hydraulic stimulation treatments required to produce deep geothermal reservoirs present the risk of generating induced seismicity. Understanding the processes that operate during the stimulation phase is critical for minimising and preventing the uncertainties associated with the exploitation of these reservoirs.

This study demonstrates the feasibility of an underground closed‐loop thermal storage facility at a post‐mining site, intended for seasonal heat energy storage. Its principal design shows water flow directions in winter and summer (1, 2), heat pumps (3), an upper water reservoir (4), and connecting pipes (5).

Exploration for deep geothermal reservoirs in Luxembourg and the surroundings - perspectives of geothermal energy use [PDF]
The aim of this paper is to combine different types of information necessary for a first rather qualitative assessment of deep geothermal reservoirs in the region of Luxembourg. Within the geological framework, the study area encompasses Luxembourg and the surrounding areas of Belgium, Germany, and France.

The tensile strength of granite, a proposed host for nuclear waste, degrades severely above 400°C. We link this to specific microcracking patterns captured by acoustic emission, establishing a scientific basis for assessing repository safety under thermal load.

Hydraulic history and current state of the deep geothermal reservoir Groß Schönebeck [PDF]
Abstract This study addresses the thermal–hydraulic–mechanical and chemical (THMC) behaviour of a research well doublet consisting of the injection well E GrSk 3/90 and the production well Gt GrSk 4/05 A(2) in the deep geothermal reservoir of Gros Schonebeck (north of Berlin, Germany).
