New Perspectives for QCD Physics at the LHC
I review a number of topics where conventional wisdom relevant to hadron physics at the LHC has been challenged. For example, the initial-state and final-state interactions of the quarks and gluons entering perturbative QCD hard-scattering subprocesses ...

Inducing Ferromagnetism by Structural Engineering in a Strongly Spin‐Orbit Coupled Oxide
ABSTRACT Magnetic materials with strong spin‐orbit coupling (SOC) are essential for the advancement of spin‐orbitronic devices, as they enable efficient spin‐charge conversion, complex magnetic structures, spin‐valley physics, topological phases and other exotic phenomena.

Semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering off a tensor-polarized spin-1 target
We investigate the semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering off a tensor-polarized spin-1 target, focusing on the production of an unpolarized hadron. The complete differential cross section is expressed in terms of 23 structure functions, which depend ...

Efficient two‐photon resonant Raman scattering (TRRS) is observed in the layered perovskite (PEA)2PbI4, with the biexciton level acting as an intermediate state. TRRS undergoes two‐photon frequency shift upon input frequency tuning, persists up to 90 K, and shows clear threshold behavior and polarization selection rules.

Momentum fraction and hard scale dependence of double parton scattering
The effective cross section of double parton scattering in high-energy hadron collisions has been measured in proton-proton collisions, with significant variation among final-state observables, contrary to the idea of a universal value. Building upon our

Diffractive Phenomena and Shadowing in Deep-Inelastic Scattering
Shadowing effects in deep-inelastic lepton-nucleus scattering probe the mass spectrum of diffractive leptoproduction from individual nucleons. We explore this relationship using current experimental information on both processes.

Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Coherent γ*-nucleus scattering and coherent nuclear states
In the context of a McLerran-Venugopalan (MV) model for a large nucleus, coherent scattering of a virtual photon on that nucleus is evaluated in the A − = 0 gauge, the gauge appropriate for the target nucleus.

The proton spin puzzle has challenged our understanding of QCD for the last 20 years. We survey new developments in theory and experiment. The proton spin puzzle seems to be telling us about the interplay of valence quarks with chiral dynamics and the ...
