Bandwidth-Agile Image Transmission With Deep Joint Source-Channel Coding [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2021
We propose deep learning based communication methods for adaptive-bandwidth transmission of images over wireless channels. We consider the scenario in which images are transmitted progressively in layers over time or frequency, and such layers can be aggregated by receivers in order to increase the quality of their reconstructions.

Importance-Aware Resource Allocations for MIMO Semantic Communication [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy
This study proposes a separate source-channel coding (SSCC) framework to address semantic communication challenges in MIMO systems, overcoming the limitations of joint source-channel coding (JSCC) in channel adaptation and model reusability.

A star modulation network for wireless image semantic transmission [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
In recent years, semantic communication based on deep joint source-channel coding (DEEPJSCC) has been demonstrated and widely investigated. However, existing DEEPJSCC schemes suffer from low efficiency in mining latent semantic representations, as well ...

A survey on deep learning based joint source-channel coding

open access: yesDianxin kexue, 2020
Classical information theory shows that separate source-channel coding is asymptotically optimal over a point-to-point channel. As modern communication systems are becoming more sensitive to delays and bandwidth,it becomes difficult to adopt the ...

Rateless Deep Joint Source Channel Coding for 3D Point Cloud

open access: yesIEEE Access
To enable untethered volumetric services, one of the primary challenges lies in reconstructing a high-quality 3D point cloud for each user, despite variations in channel conditions and bandwidth availability.

Task-Based Information Compression for Multi-Agent Communication Problems with Channel Rate Constraints [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
A collaborative task is assigned to a multiagent system (MAS) in which agents are allowed to communicate. The MAS runs over an underlying Markov decision process and its task is to maximize the averaged sum of discounted one-stage rewards.
