Dissecting the dissection laboratory: Elements for designing a human anatomy laboratory

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract The human anatomy dissection laboratory is a critical component of anatomical and medical education. Development, maintenance, and stocking of these laboratory spaces have unique demands, with all of the challenges in running a laboratory with Biosafety Laboratory Level 2 (BSL‐2) classification, housing a large volume of tissues saturated with

Histamine and the mechanisms of nausea and vomiting: Translating the uncertain pharmacology of cyclizine

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Cyclizine is a long‐established, short‐acting drug, registered for preventing motion sickness, post‐operative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and ‘vomiting of known cause’. The latter is not defined but may include pregnancy and patients receiving palliative care, historically accepted without large, controlled trials.

Prevalence of pregnancy and birth outcomes following biologic exposure in immune‐mediated inflammatory diseases: A population‐based study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Almost 5% of pregnancies are affected by immune‐mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs). As treatments become available, understanding their use during pregnancy is important. We aimed to describe maternal, pregnancy and infant outcomes among IMID pregnancies exposed to biologic therapies. Methods Using the Merative™ MarketScan® Commercial Database,

Purification of Disassembled Capsid Protein by Hydroxyapatite Chromatography Enhances Virus‐Like Particle Recovery

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Virus‐like particles (VLPs) are a promising modality with extensive applications in prophylactic and therapeutic vaccine design. Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines are one such example where VLP vaccine applications have led to the successful reduction in HPV‐associated diseases, such as cervical cancer.

Mechanistic Digital Model for Real‐Time Monitoring and Optimization of Adenovirus Production

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Adenoviral vectors are a critical vaccine platform, with billions of vaccine doses administered during the COVID‐19 pandemic. In addition, they are promising therapeutics for cancer treatment. To advance their manufacturing, real‐time monitoring of adenovirus production is essential for process optimization, yield improvement, and product ...

Mitochondria‐endoplasmic reticulum organelle glue as maturation promoter for origination/dimensional dual‐cross cardiomyocytes

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Mitochondria‐endoplasmic reticulum contact sites (MERCS) are areas where the mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum closely interact. In this study, we utilize synthetic organelle glues to artificially engineer MERCS for regulating cardiomyocyte development, through which the immature and chemo‐plasticity issues of undifferentiated cells are addressed.

Maximizing Neurovascular Outcomes of Facial Transplantation: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Facial transplantation is a division of reconstructive surgery which aims to improve the function and appearance of a face that has endured severe disfigurement. Currently, the face transplant procedure uses allogenic tissue, harvested from a brain‐dead donor, to replace damaged facial components.

Evaluating the Impact of a Dedicated Dissection Course on 3‐D Anatomical Understanding in Senior Medical Students

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT International changes in the focus of medical school education have led to a decrease in the time allocated to anatomy education, with human specimen dissection particularly affected. This study evaluates whether a dissection‐based course facilitates the retention of three‐dimensional (3‐D) anatomical relationships in senior medical students ...

A Novel Anatomical Description of the Normal Terminal Fibular Artery and the Terminal Fibular Window: Radiological Findings and Surgical Implications

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A novel anatomical description and radiological finding, related to the anatomical course of the terminal fibular artery (FibA) was recently reported. In the article, the authors found the terminal FibA to change its course, from being posterior and medial to the fibula to surface anteriorly and laterally before residing below the tibiofibular
