Differential Characteristics of Viral siRNAs between Leaves and Roots of Wheat Plants Naturally Infected with Wheat Yellow Mosaic Virus, a Soil-Borne Virus

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2017
RNA silencing is an important innate antiviral defense in plants. Soil-borne plant viruses naturally infect roots via soil-inhabiting vectors, but it is unclear how antiviral RNA silencing responds to virus infection in this particular tissue.

Targeted Deep Sequencing Uncovers Cryptic KIT Mutations in KIT/PDGFRA/SDH/RAS-P Wild-Type GIST

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2020
Background: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are known to carry oncogenic KIT or PDGFRA mutations, or less commonly SDH or NF1 gene inactivation, with very rare cases harboring mutant BRAF or RAS alleles.

Therapy-Acquired Clonal Mutations in Thiopurine Drug-Response Genes Drive Majority of Early Relapses in Pediatric B-Cell Precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2023
Methods: Forty pediatric (0–12 years) B-ALL DNA samples (20 paired Diagnosis-Relapse) and an additional six B-ALL DNA samples (without relapse at 3 years post treatment), as the non-relapse arm, were retrieved from the biobank for advanced genomic ...

Spatial transcriptomics in embryonic mouse diaphragm muscle reveals regional gradients and subdomains of developmental gene expression

open access: yesiScience
Summary: The murine embryonic diaphragm is a primary model for studying myogenesis and neuro-muscular synaptogenesis, both representing processes regulated by spatially organized genetic programs of myonuclei located in distinct myodomains.

Deep sequencing microRNA profiles associated with wooden breast in commercial broilers

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2021
: Wooden breast (WB) is a muscle disorder affecting modern commercial broiler chickens that leads to a palpable firm pectoralis major muscle and causes severe reduction in meat quality, resulting in substantial economic losses for the poultry industry ...

In Vivo Therapy with M2e-Specific IgG Selects for an Influenza A Virus Mutant with Delayed Matrix Protein 2 Expression

open access: yesmBio, 2021
The ectodomain of matrix protein 2 (M2e) of influenza A viruses is a universal influenza A vaccine candidate. Here, we report potential evasion strategies of influenza A viruses under in vivo passive anti-M2e IgG immune selection pressure in severe ...

Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Pediatric, Adolescent, and Young Adult Patients With Osteosarcoma: Local Control Outcomes With Dosimetric Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Osteosarcoma is a radioresistant tumor that may benefit from stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for locoregional control in metastatic/recurrent disease. We report institutional practice patterns, outcomes, toxicity, and failures in osteosarcoma patients treated with SBRT.

Deep sequencing of the mouse lung transcriptome reveals distinct long non-coding RNAs expression associated with the high virulence of H5N1 avian influenza virus in mice

open access: yesVirulence, 2018
Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play multiple key regulatory roles in various biological processes. However, their function in influenza A virus (IAV) pathogenicity remains largely unexplored.

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.
