Prediction of default probability in banking industry using CAMELS index: A case study of Iranian banks [PDF]

open access: yesManagement Science Letters, 2013
This study examines the relationship between CAMELS index and default probability among 20 Iranian banks. The proposed study gathers the necessary information from their financial statements over the period 2005-2011.

Shared Genetic Effects and Antagonistic Pleiotropy Between Multiple Sclerosis and Common Cancers

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Epidemiologic studies have reported inconsistent altered cancer risk in individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS). Factors such as immune dysregulation, comorbidities, and disease‐modifying therapies may contribute to this variability.

The supreme subprime myth: the role of bad loans in the 2007-2009 financial crisis

open access: yesPSL Quarterly Review, 2012
Using simulations, we show that the probability of default and losses given default of subprime mortgage loans are small in comparison to their interest rates. The implication is that these loans are profitable for risk neutral efficient banks.

Term Default, Balloon Risk, and Credit Risk in Commercial Mortgages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Term default and balloon risk play an interactive role in the pricing of credit risk in commercial mortgages. Most commercial mortgage pricing studies assume a borrower\u27s default decision is based solely on the property value; the mortgage valuation ...

Brainstem and Cerebellar Volume Loss and Associated Clinical Features in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) is a neurodegenerative ‘tauopathy’ with predominating pathology in the basal ganglia and midbrain. Caudal tau spread frequently implicates the cerebellum; however, the pattern of atrophy remains equivocal.

Infectious Default Model with Recovery and Continuous Limit

open access: yes, 2008
We introduce an infectious default and recovery model for N obligors. Obligors are assumed to be exchangeable and their states are described by N Bernoulli random variables S_{i} (i=1,...,N).

Dynamic Control of Synaptic Plasticity by Competing Ferroelectric and Trap‐Assisted Switching in IGZO Transistors with Al2O3/HfO2 Dielectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A frequency‐tunable ferroelectric synaptic transistor based on a buried‐gate InGaZnO channel and Al2O3/HfO2 dielectric stack exhibits linear and reversible weight updates using single‐polarity pulses. By switching between ferroelectric and trap‐assisted modes depending on input frequency, the device simplifies neuromorphic circuit design and achieves ...

Multiple Twinning in Nacre and Aragonite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electron backscatter diffraction map of a cluster of geologic aragonite, exhibiting single, double, and triple twins. The whole cluster is approximately 2 cm wide. Colors indicate crystal orientations, so that pixels where the a‐, b‐, and c‐axis is perpendicular to the image plane are green, red, and blue, respectively.
