Nanoscale Spatial Tuning of Superconductivity in Cuprate Thin Films via Direct Laser Writing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Maskless direct laser writing enables local control of oxygen stoichiometry in epitaxial YBCO thin films under ambient conditions. Sub‐micrometer grayscale patterns with tunable optical response and superconducting transport properties are achieved.

Simultaneous Enhancement of Performance and Stability in Dual‐Gate a‐IGZO Thin‐Film Transistors via Single‐Step Laser Annealing for Capacitor‐Less DRAM

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A single‐step laser annealing strategy is presented for dual‐gate a‐IGZO TFTs. The steep thermal gradient induces graded oxygen doping in the channel and simultaneous WOx removal at the contacts, enabling concurrent interface and contact engineering.

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

Noise‐Limited Bit Precision in Ferroelectric Synaptic Transistors for High‐Resolution Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐frequency noise spectroscopy defines the resolvable conductance states of synaptic FeFETs by coupling read‐current fluctuation with usable dynamic range. The resulting noise‐limited bit precision establishes a universal, device‐agnostic reliability metric beyond the memory window, enabling quantitative benchmarking and rational design of high ...

Two Coexisting Pathways to Volatility in Valence‐Change Memory Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Volatile VCM‐type memristive devices exhibit current relaxation after resistive switching, but their microscopic origin remains debated. Using pulsed measurements and a new Tunnel‐DLTS approach on Pt/SrTiO3/Nb:SrTiO3 devices, we show that post‐SET volatility is predominantly ionic, while electronic contributions—arising from quasi‐Fermi‐level ...

Electrostatic Superlattices Beyond 1:1 Stoichiometry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polymer‐mediated charge regulation drives two hierarchical routes to higher‐stoichiometry nanoparticle superlattices. Tuning the polymer's molecular weight promotes progressive interstitial filling, transforming ZnS into the fully occupied CaF2${\rm CaF}_2$ lattice. Exchanging polymer assignment between large and small nanoparticles instead breaks CsCl

Light‐Induced Field‐Tunneling Synapses in Solution‐Processed Van Der Waals Heterostructures for Scalable, Retina‐Inspired Optical Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable, solution‐processed WSe2/ZrO2‐x van der Waals heterostructure realizes a light‐induced field‐tunneling synapse (LIFTS) that activates exclusively under bright illumination, emulating the photopic adaptation of the human retina at the device level.

Emotional Responses to Victory and Defeat as a Function of Opponent

IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing, 2013
The experiment with 33 participants showed that the social relationship between players (playing a first-person shooter game against a friend or a stranger, and in single-player mode) influences phasic emotion-related psychophysiological responses to digital game events representing victory and defeat.

Using model-based collaborative filtering techniques to recommend the expected best strategy to defeat a simulated soccer opponent [PDF]

open access: possibleIntelligent Data Analysis, 2014
How to improve the performance of a simulated soccer team using final game statistics? This is the question this research aims to answer using model-based collaborative techniques and a robotic team – FC Portugal – as a case study. After developing a framework capable of automatically calculating the final game statistics through the RoboCup log files,
