Development of Multifunctional Hierarchically Restructured Antibacterial Neural Interfacing Electrodes via Plasma‐Enhanced Atomic Layer Deposition of Zinc Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Next‐generation implantable neural‐interfacing devices are increasingly constrained by the coupled demands of electrode miniaturization, electrochemical performance, and implantation infection risk. Femtosecond laser–based hierarchical surface restructuring (HSR) technology has emerged as a scalable, manufacturing‐compatible platform for ...

Operando Tracking of Oxygen‐Vacancy Dynamics and Negative Capacitance in Ca‐Doped BiFeO3

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Operando electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, combined with electrocoloration, enables a direct correlation between real‐space ionic redistribution and the corresponding frequency‐domain electrical response. In lateral Ca‐doped BiFeO3 devices, time‐resolved impedance snapshots capture the evolution from bulk‐dominated mixed conduction to an ...

Oxygen passivation driven defect states healing in monolayer MoSe2 for ultra-high photoresponsivity

open access: yesnpj 2D Materials and Applications
Heterostructure-based photodetectors often face performance limitations due to strong interlayer coupling and restricted band modulation. An alternative approach is engineering doped 2D TMDs, particularly through hole doping, to achieve tunable ...

Reconstructing Quantum Dot Surfaces via Dual‐Functional Ligand Pairing Enables Efficient Shortwave Infrared Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a ligand‐pairing strategy that reconstructs lead sulfide quantum dot surfaces for efficient short‐wave infrared optoelectronics. A low‐reactivity thiourea precursor combined with hydrobromic acid enables monodisperse and fully passivated quantum dots.

Simultaneous Enhancement of Performance and Stability in Dual‐Gate a‐IGZO Thin‐Film Transistors via Single‐Step Laser Annealing for Capacitor‐Less DRAM

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A single‐step laser annealing strategy is presented for dual‐gate a‐IGZO TFTs. The steep thermal gradient induces graded oxygen doping in the channel and simultaneous WOx removal at the contacts, enabling concurrent interface and contact engineering.

How to repair the performance degradation of WSeTe SBFET caused by channel vacancy defects: A first principles study

open access: yesNext Materials
The QuantumATK software package based on density functional theory and non-equilibrium Green's function is used to predict the performance of a 5.1 nm in-plane contact double-gate WSeTe Schottky barrier SBFET with 1 T-WTe2 as electrodes and Janus WSeTe ...

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

Tunable Complementary Doping Strategy Enables High‐Performance Homo‐Channel CMOS in Monolayer WSe2

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polarity‐selective modulation enables a homo‐channel WSe2 CMOS platform from a single 2D semiconductor. MoOx and AlN tune WSe2 toward p‐ and n‐type operation, respectively, yielding complementary FETs and inverters with balanced switching, high voltage gain, low static power, and promising scalability for 2D logic integration.

Enhancing Open‐Circuit Voltage and Fill Factor in Sn‐Based Perovskite Solar Cells: Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Photovoltaics

open access: yesSusMat
Tin (Sn)‐based halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) offer a promising lead‐free alternative with favorable bandgaps and strong absorption, yet their performance is limited by substantial open‐circuit voltage (Voc) and fill factor (FF) losses. This review
