Silicon integrated defected ground structures

2010 Topical Meeting on Silicon Monolithic Integrated Circuits in RF Systems (SiRF), 2010
In this paper we study the impact of two common defected ground structures fabricated in finite ground coplanar waveguide on silicon and alumina substrates useful for monolithic and hybrid designs. The single defects resonate at 30GHz and have bandwidth differences due to the nature and size of the defect. On-wafer measurements up to 40GHz are included

Dumbbell-shaped defected ground structure

International Journal of RF and Microwave Computer-Aided Engineering, 2007
A simplified equivalent circuit model of a dumbbell-shaped defected ground structure (DGS) is developed. The equivalent circuit model is derived from the equivalent inductance and capacitance, which develop because of the perturbed return current path on the ground and the narrow gap, respectively.

Stepped-Impedance Defected Ground Structure

TENCON 2005 - 2005 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2005
The negative image of a microstrip stepped-impedance lowpass filter (LPF) or hi-Z, low-Z filter is used on the ground plane to produce wide and deep stopband. This structure is simpler in design and more compact in size compared to conventional bandstop structures.

Spiral defected ground structures in grounded coplanar waveguide

2011 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium, 2011
This paper presents results of a spiral defected ground structure (SDGS) study in grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW) technology. A SDGS is implemented on the top and bottom ground planes of a GCPW transmission line resulting in stronger attenuation poles.

Structural defects in mechanically ground graphite

Carbon, 1999
Abstract Highly ordered synthetic graphite was mechanically ground in a planetary ball mill. The interlayer spacing d002 was found to increase in the grinding process with the reduction of the crystalline size La, Lc. The specific surface area increased to over 600 m2/g at the maximum.

Compact Wireless Devices with Defected-Ground Structures

2006 International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Communications (ICWMC'06), 2006
In this paper are presented some investigations on micro- strip defected ground structures (DGS). It is shown that the presence of a slot in the ground plane can substantially enhance the electric coupling, or the electric part of a mixed coupling between resonators and its external feedings.

An interdigitated coupler with defect ground structure

2015 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP), 2015
In this paper, an interdigitated coupler with defect ground structure in the coupling position is presented. Compared to the conventional interdigitated coupler, the proposed coupler loosens restrictions of the coupling-line width and space between coupling lines. As a result, the requirement of fabricating accuracy for the new coupler is lowered.
