A Compact Multiband Multimode Antenna Employing Defected Ground Structure [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2019
An analysis of shorting pin loaded compact triple-band antenna with triple-mode characteristics is carried out in this paper. The antenna structure is designed with a rectangular patch loaded with open edge slots to excite the fundamental TM10 mode at 2 ...

Defected and loyal? A case study of counter-defection mechanisms inside Chechen paramilitaries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Can former insurgents in the service of counterinsurgent paramilitaries be considered a perfectly loyal force? What mechanisms may help to deter subsequent defections of individuals who have already “betrayed” once?

Reconfigurable phased microstrip antenna array with defected ground structure and defected microstrip structure for beam steering application [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Beam steering is defined as the ability to electronically steer the beam maximum of an antenna electric field pattern to some predefined point in space. The performance of a phased antenna array for beam steering without moving the antennas is important ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Quantized vortices in two dimensional solid 4He

open access: yes, 2011
Diagonal and off-diagonal properties of 2D solid 4He systems doped with a quantized vortex have been investigated via the Shadow Path Integral Ground State method using the fixed-phase approach.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Compact ultra-wideband antenna with band-notched based on defected ground structure

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2014
A simple and very compact planar monopole ultra-wideband antenna with a 3.5 GHz band rejection is proposed in this Letter. The compact antenna is etched on an FR4 substrate with the size of 14 × 16 × 1 mm^3, consists of a tree-shaped radiation patch with

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Research on the Defected Ground Structure With Von Koch Snowflake Fractals

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This paper studies the electromagnetic properties of defected ground structure (DGS) with von Koch snowflake fractals. First, the snowflake fractal is employed in the dumbbell shaped DGS, and we have discovered that it has the characteristics of a low ...

Monte Carlo study of linear chain submonolayer structures.Application to Li/W(112)

open access: yes, 2003
The lattice gas model for adsorption of alkaline elements on W(112) surface is studied by Monte Carlo simulations. The model includes dipole--dipole interaction as well as long-range indirect interaction. The numerical results show that truncation of the
