A microstrip antenna based on the defected ground structure

2013 IEEE International Conference of IEEE Region 10 (TENCON 2013), 2013
The microstrip antenna is widely used in our life now for its low profile, simple structure, low cost and omnidirectional radiation patterns. But the drawbacks of this kind antenna also sometimes confine their applications, especially the narrow bandwidth. In this paper, a microstrip antenna with the defected ground structure (DGS) is proposed.

Modeling of microstrip filter with defected ground structures using ANN

2016 11th International Conference on Industrial and Information Systems (ICIIS), 2016
In this paper, artificial neural network (ANN) method is used for modeling of microstrip Alter with various defected ground structures (DGS). Modeling of DGS is the difficult part in designing of microstrip filter. By using ANN, the circuit modeling of microstrip filter becomes simple. This paper presents the modeling of five DGS geometries from simple

Wide stopband lowpass filter based on defected microstrip structure

2017 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS), 2017
A microstrip lowpass filter based on the defected microstrip structure with sharp roll-off characteristics and wide stopband is proposed. The filter is composed of S-shaped and H-shaped slots. Based on the proposed structure, a lowpass filter with a 3dB cutoff frequency at 4.05GHz, a simple structure, a compact size and a sharp transition band is ...

Spurious Response Suppression in Microstrip Bandpass Filters Using Defected Microstrip Structures

Electromagnetics, 2012
Abstract A new technique for suppressing the spurious passband of microstrip bandpass filters using defected microstrip structures is presented. This new defected microstrip structure resonator is realized by etching an open ring in the microstrip line.

Microstrip filter with defected ground structure: a close perspective

International Journal of Microwave and Wireless Technologies, 2013
This paper presents a close but a beginner's perspective and a comprehensive review of microstrip filters with defected ground structure (DGS). The concept of DGS is inspired by photonic/electromagnetic bandgap structures (EBG/PBG) and metamaterials that are employed in microwave components to achieve a variety of performance enhancement features ...

Defected Ground Structure Microstrip Antenna for WiMAX

2019
This paper proposed the microstrip antenna which enhances the bandwidth with the use of defected ground structure (DGS). The study and implementation of proposed antenna are discussed in this paper. With the use of DGS, the bandwidth is increased efficiently to 35.87% as compared to the normal rectangular patch antenna. The proposed antenna is designed

Application of 2D defected ground structures in microstrip lines

2013 IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Computing and Communication Technologies, 2013
In this paper, two-dimensional (2D) defected ground structures (DGSs) are proposed in microstrip lines. The dumbbell structure is added as a unit-cell in a systematic manner in both horizontal and vertical directions to construct the 2D DGSs. The proposed scheme efficiently utilizes the ground area to achieve very low stop band frequencies.

A Novel Schiffman Phase Shifter with a Defected Microstrip Structure

Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications, 2008
In a standard Schiffman phase shifter a coupled section and a uniform transmission line are used to give a differential phase shift. In order to achieve a larger bandwidth it is necessary to use tight coupled sections which are difficult to be realized. Further more, a 90° Schiffman phase shifter can hardly be realized with a low permittivity substrate.

The Effect of Electromagnetic Waves on Multilayer Orthogonal Microstrip Lines With and Without Defected Microstrip Structure

IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2012
A method for analysis of multilayer coupled transmission lines with and without defected microstrip structure (DMS) excited by an external electromagnetic wave is presented. The structure is first decomposed into coupled transmission-line sections and crosstalk regions, then a lumped circuit model for the crosstalk region and the DMS section is ...

A reconfigurable defected microstrip structure for applications in phase shifter

The 8th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2014), 2014
A reconfigurable defected microstrip structure (RDMS) is proposed for phase shift applications. The RDMS unit is made by etching a rectangle slot in a segment of microstrip line and then loading the slot with PIN diodes and capacitors. A phase shift is achieved by switching the diodes between the “on” and “off” states.
