Therapeutic Apheresis for Intravenous Methylprednisolone‐Refractory Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder: Clinical and Radiological Outcomes in a Single‐Center Case Series

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

Cranio-Caudal Kinematic Turn Signature Assessed with Inertial Systems As a Marker of Mobility Deficits in Parkinson’s Disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2018
BackgroundTurning is a challenging mobility task requiring proper planning, coordination, and postural stability to be executed efficiently. Turn deficits can impair mobility and lead to falls in patients with neurodegenerative disease, such as Parkinson’

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

THE EVOLUTION OF THE ROMANIA'S INTERNATIONAL TRADE DURING THE HEALTH CRISIS [PDF]

open access: yesAnalele Universităţii Constantin Brâncuşi din Târgu Jiu : Seria Economie, 2021
The analysis based on data recorded on May 31, 2021 shows that both imports and exports increased compared to previous periods, only that the balance deficit remained quite high, becoming higher by over 1.477 billion euros.

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Külön út - külön siker

open access: yesCompetitio, 2007
Tanulmányomban az Európai Unió egyik tagállamát, a korporatív gazdaság egyik példájának tekinthető Ausztria kis, nyitott, föderális berendezkedésű államát veszem górcső alá. Az osztrák gazdaságban a második világháború utáni újjáépítési periódust viharos

Causes of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Plan BAs a society we often look at how we can fix current problems. This study takes another approach that has not been as well researched in the area of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and that is the potential causes of this highly diagnosed

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.
