Lack of formal regulatory definitions of off-label medication use in children: an analysis using agency inquiry and text mining

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
ObjectivesThis study investigates the formal definitions of “off-label” medication use among five major Western regulatory authorities—FDA, EMA, Health Canada, MHRA, and TGA.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

A Definition of Plasticity [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1946
THE word 'plasticity' although one which has attained a state almost of ubiquity in several branches of applied physics and industrial chemistry, has, according to Scott Blair1, never been given a quantitative and dimensional definition. In the technical literature a group of quantitative 'plasticity numbers' have taken their place. Such expressions as

Market Definition and Market Power in Competition Analysis - Some Practical Issues [PDF]

open access: yes
Market definition plays a key role in competition analysis and has often proved controversial. However, it is merely a means to an end, the real issue being to establish whether or not firms have significant market power, i.e.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

What are Sub-National Island Jurisdictions?

open access: yesCogent Social Sciences
There is no consensus about the definition and classification of Sub-National Island Jurisdictions (SNIJs). This may conflate academic and policy analysis and misguide policies to advance development. We review existing definitions and classifications of

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
