Angle of Deflection

2020
This chapter reflects on the principle of 'angle of deflection' or 'measurable deflection'. This principle has been utilized superbly by Mark Cohen in his path-breaking work on Jewish economic activity in the Islamic world. But the principle of angle of deflection still has its critics. Some have seen in it a reflection of legal formalism.

Ricochet Behavior on Glass—Critical Ricochet Angles, Ricochet Angles, and Deflection Angles

Journal of Forensic Sciences, 2016
AbstractFor shooting scene reconstruction purposes, knowledge about the ricochet behavior of bullets provides valuable information. In this study, the critical ricochet angles of four cartridge types were established on plain float glass. The estimates of the critical ricochet angles varied between cartridge types and were 21.0° for .32 Auto FMJ ...

Electrostatic electron analyzer with 90° deflection angle

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2002
We demonstrate the feasibility of a new type of electrostatic cylindrical analyzer terminated with plates with focus at 90° also in the presence of significant space charge. The transmission function is determined by numerical simulation of the trajectories after a full three-dimensional solution of the Poisson problem with boundary condition by an ...

Equivalent deflection angle of textured surfaces

2012 38th IEEE Photovoltaic Specialists Conference, 2012
The concept of optical path length enhancement is a useful tool for characterizing the effects of light trapping in thin films by providing a convenient geometrical interpetation of energy absorption. However, path length calculations cannot distinguish between absorption gains due to better antireflection versus absorption gains due to actual ...

Representative deflection angle for the single-deflection method of direct simulation Monte Carlo

Physical Review E, 2023
The total cross section of binary collision is, in general, unbounded due to the long-range interations of molecules. It is conventional to truncate the small angle deflections of collisions. The present work suggests an alternative way of avoiding the difficulty of unboundedness.

Spherical robot linear motion deflection angle compensation

2014 IEEE International Conference on Information and Automation (ICIA), 2014
The motion of spherical robot is non-linear and coupling, so most of the movement takes the decomposition into linear motion and steering motion and controls separately. The robot deviates from the equilibrium position when it encounters balance error, structure error, also uneven ground and jitter during the process.
