Sensing System for Measuring Deflection of Microcantilever
Transactions of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers B, 2012. Abstract: This paper presents a sensing system to measure the deflection of a microcantilever in an atomic force microscope. In general, the optical lever method and interferometry are used for the sensing system; however, their size and cost leaves considerable room for improvement. Therefore, we used an optical pickup head whose operating principle

Transient deflection performance measures for command shapers
2008 American Control Conference, 2008Input shaping is a technique used to reduce command-induced vibration. Recently, a class of input shapers has been developed to limit both the residual vibration and the transient deflection of flexible systems. This paper evaluates two types of commands: pre-computed, deflection-limiting commands for a floating oscillator given a fixed move distance ...

Pipework deflection measurement using photogrammetry
International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 1989Abstract Photogrammetry involves photographing an object from two or more positions and analysing the photographs to obtain three-dimensional data. By using analytical techniques to correct for lens and film distortion, very good results can be obtained from light-weight non-specialist cameras.

Doppler measurement of the solar gravitational deflection
Classical and Quantum Gravity, 1999Testing alternative metric theories of gravity with an accuracy much better than the present level has recently drawn great attention, in particular in relation to the search for a very weak scalar field, a possible remnant of an early inflationary cosmology.

Serviceability Assessment Based on Deflection Measurements
2018Service load deformations may cause deterioration of wearing surfaces and local cracking in concrete slabs and in metal bridges that could impair serviceability and durability, even if self-limiting and not a potential source of collapse. In most recent AASHTO specifications, although the criteria for deflection control are made optional at the ...

Measurements of coke oven wall deflections
Revue de Métallurgie, 2003CPM developed a mechanical sensor to measure coke oven wall deflections. This sensor was used in Dunkirk coke plant under normal operating conditions and showed reversible deflections between 1 and 1.5 mm when plastic layers meet at the oven centre.

Measurement of Ringing in CRT Deflection Yokes
SID Symposium Digest of Technical Papers, 1999Abstract A new Optical Frequency Response measurement method is presented to analyse ringing of deflection yokes and their interaction with the drive circuitry. Ringing is caused by high‐frequency electromagnetical oscillations. Various oscillation modes are identified and related to circuitry design. Experimental results show how the
