Deformability-Based Microfluidic Microdroplet Screening to Obtain Agarolytic Bacterial Cells

open access: yes, 2023
Environmental microorganisms possess enzymes that can digest macromolecules such as agarose into smaller molecules that can be utilized for growth. These enzymes could be valuable for the effective utilization of global resources.

Immune Cell Deformability in Depressive Disorders: Longitudinal Associations Between Depression, Glucocorticoids and Cell Deformability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Background Cell deformability of all major blood cell types is increased in depressive disorders (DD). Furthermore, impaired glucocorticoid secretion is causally related to DD.

raw_data_of_morphology-deformability-PS.opju

open access: yes, 2021
Data comprises deformability (measured by ektacytometry), morphology (whole blood count) and phosphatidylserine exposure (by flow cytometry) levels of red blood cells acquired from two mice models: ApoE/LDLR double deficient and C57BL/6J. The results are

cAMP-Signalling Regulates Gametocyte-Infected Erythrocyte Deformability Required for Malaria Parasite Transmission. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Blocking Plasmodium falciparum transmission to mosquitoes has been designated a strategic objective in the global agenda of malaria elimination. Transmission is ensured by gametocyte-infected erythrocytes (GIE) that sequester in the bone marrow and at ...

Rieffel's Deformation Quantization and Isospectral Deformations [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Theoretical Physics, 2001
We demonstrate the relation between the isospectral deformation and Rieffel's deformation quantization by the action of $\mathbb{R}^d$.

Influence of addition of shredded rubber waste on deformability of binder-bound anthropogenic material mixtures [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Civil Engineering, 2021
Construction is one of the industrial sectors responsible for the use of large quantities of natural raw materials. This fact makes it necessary to look for new technologies of producing construction materials based as much as possible on waste materials.

Classifying deformable and non-deformable video objects [PDF]

open access: yes7th International Conference on Imaging for Crime Detection and Prevention (ICDP 2016), 2016
This paper presents a fully automated approach to classifying deformable and non-deformable moving objects in a video surveillance scene. We estimate an object's motion using Marzat optical-flow algorithm. We filter the motion vectors and attempt to find the transformation that represents the correct mapping between the two positions.

Red Blood Cell Stiffness and Adhesion Are Species-Specific Properties Strongly Affected by Temperature and Medium Changes in Single Cell Force Spectroscopy

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Besides human red blood cells (RBC), a standard model used in AFM-single cell force spectroscopy (SCFS), little is known about apparent Young’s modulus (Ea) or adhesion of animal RBCs displaying distinct cellular features. To close this knowledge gap, we

Deforming diamond

open access: yesIMA Journal of Applied Mathematics, 2016
For materials science, diamond crystals are almost unrivaled for hardness and a range of other properties. Yet, when simply abstracting the carbon bonding structure as a geometric bar-and-joint periodic framework, it is far from rigid. We study the geometric deformations of this type of framework in arbitrary dimension d, with particular regard to the ...

Deformable classifiers

open access: yesQuarterly of Applied Mathematics, 2019
Geometric variations of objects, which do not modify the object class, pose a major challenge for object recognition. These variations could be rigid as well as non-rigid transformations. In this paper, we design a framework for training deformable classifiers, where latent transformation variables are introduced, and a ...
