Deformable primary mirror for a space telescope

Applied Optics, 1982
A 4-m aperture deformable primary mirror has been designed with the mirror and its supports integrated into a single structure. The integrated active mirror's minimal weight makes it desirable for a space telescope as well as a terrestrial application.

Driver ASICs for Deformable Mirrors

Imaging and Applied Optics 2015, 2015
We have developed three types of ASICs to be directly integrated with deformable mirrors, eliminating almost all cables. These will enable very compact adaptive optics systems in space with low power consumption.

Magnetic Fluid Deformable Mirrors

2012
The number of new adaptive optics applications has soared during the last decade, demonstrating the need for low-cost, high-stroke deformable mirrors with a large number of actuators. Magnetic fluid deformable mirrors (MFDMs) were proposed a few years ago as an alternative to conventional membrane deformable mirrors used in wavefront correctors. Though

Deformable Mirrors — The Hands

2009
A lot of people use the terms deformable mirror and adaptive optics interchangeably -€” "€œLet's put adaptive optics in the beam."€ -€” with no regard for the fact that the singular form of the noun optics, -€” "€œthe adaptive optic goes right before the beamsplitter"€ -€” is almost never used anymore.

Dynamic response of ferrofluidic deformable mirrors

Applied Optics, 2008
Ferrofluids can be used to make deformable mirrors having highly interesting characteristics (e.g., extremely large strokes and low costs). Until recently, such mirrors were thought to be restricted to corrections of frequencies lower than 10 Hz, thus limiting their usefulness.

Micromachined Membrane Deformable Mirrors

1999
Development of adaptive optics, initiated 50 years ago with the article of Babcock [1], resulted in impressive technical and scientific results in military and astronomical applications. These results were obtained on a high price using custom-developed complex adaptive optical systems.

Deforming mirrors converting GMOs into smog

Nutrition & Food Science, 2016
Purpose The debate around the use and study of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) is so complex that frequently people miss that the outcome of some political/social/economic decisions are taken in such a way that the legal/agricultural/medical coherence is lost.
