Modelling of plastic deformation in magnesium [PDF]

In the present contribution, a viscoplastic rate-dependent constitutive model based on Schmid’s law has been used to designate the activity level of pure magnesium deformation systems. A crystal plasticity model in the framework of finite elements was used to investigate the deformation systems on the scale of single- and polycrystals.

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

We present a new method for training deformable models. Assume that we have training images where part locations have been labeled. Typically, one fits a model by maximizing the likelihood of the part labels. Alternatively, one could fit a model such that, when the model is run on the training images, it finds the parts.
