DEFORMABLE REGISTRATION OF DTI AND SPGR IMAGES
2007 4th IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging: From Nano to Macro, 2007Registration of DTI data with structure data, such as SPGR data, has import application in quantitative analysis of brain microstructures such as tissue diffusivity. However, due to potential problems such as EPI geometric distortion, partial volume effect and image reslicing errors, accurate registration of these two types of MRI images is challenging.

QUANTITATIVE EVALUATION OF DEFORMABLE IMAGE REGISTRATION
2007 4th IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging: From Nano to Macro, 2007In this paper, a concept based on unbalanced energy is proposed to evaluate deformable registration algorithms. The new concept is demonstrated through the comparison of the ITK "demons" algorithm and thin-plate spline interpolation, performed on a prostate patient's CT images.

Deformable Registration for IGT
2013Intra-procedural imaging has led to dramatic advances in medicine by enabling interventions that were previously not feasible, reducing negative side effects, and improving clinical outcomes over a broad domain of clinical applications. The broad objective of image registration applied to image-guided procedures is to fuse the variety of information ...

Breast Image Registration and Deformation Modeling
Critical Reviews™ in Biomedical Engineering, 2012Image-based examination of the breast facilitates the detection of breast diseases, particularly of present benign and malignant lesions. For computer-aided processing of serial and multimodal clinical data, both for visual correlation and quantitative analysis, automated image-registration methods are an indispensable tool.

Deformable image registration with geometric changes
Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering, 2015Geometric changes present a number of difficulties in deformable image registration. In this paper, we propose a global deformation framework to model geometric changes whilst promoting a smooth transformation between source and target images. To achieve this, we have developed an innovative model which significantly reduces the side effects of ...

Modeling topological changes in deformable registration
2010 IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging: From Nano to Macro, 2010Topological changes are common in brain MR images for aging or disease studies. For deformable registration algorithms, which are formulated as a variational problem and solved by the minimization of certain energy functional, topological changes can cause false deformation in the resulting vector field, and affect algorithm convergence.

An algebraic framework for deformable image registration
2016 23rd International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR), 2016This paper presents a novel approach to deformable image registration using a parametric transformation model. The aligning transformation is simply found by solving a system of non-linear equations. Each equation is generated by integrating the product of a set of polynomial functions and the image intensity function over corresponding image domains ...

Data-driven registration for local deformations
Pattern Recognition Letters, 1996We present a new data-driven feature-point registration method for image sequences. This method is based on a modified Kohonen network model that performs local non-affine transformations based on a point's neighbourhood context. This new method is ideal for non-real time applications where the situation is too complex to enable an operational ...

Elastic Registration of 3D Deformable Objects
2012 International Conference on Digital Image Computing Techniques and Applications (DICTA), 2012A novel correspondence-less approach is proposed to find a non-linear aligning transformation between a pair of deformable 3D objects. Herein, we consider a polynomial deformation model, but our framework can be easily adapted to other common deformations. The basic idea of the proposed method is to set up a system of nonlinear equations whose solution

Deformable image registration based on elastodynamics
Machine Vision and Applications, 2015This paper presents a novel method for 2D inter-subject non-rigid image registration. It is motivated by the ideas derived from elastodynamics which is the subclass of linear elastic theory. We propose to model the non-rigid deformations as elastic waves which are characterized by elastodynamics wave equation. Our registration method is formulated in a
