Cardiac remodelling in the era of the recommended four pillars heart failure medical therapy

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1029-1044, April 2025.
Abstract Cardiac remodelling is a key determinant of worse cardiovascular outcome in patients with heart failure (HF) and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). It affects both the left ventricle (LV) structure and function as well as the left atrium (LA) and the right ventricle (RV).

By‐product of heparin extraction as a sustainable alternative to enhance the use of nitrogen in agriculture

open access: yesEnvironmental Progress &Sustainable Energy, EarlyView.
Abstract This study evaluates the potential of a new organic fertilizer derived from porcine intestinal mucosa (designated BHE), a by‐product of the heparin extraction process, as a sustainable nitrogen (N) source for agriculture. The work was conducted in two stages: (i) chemical and spectroscopic characterization of BHE compared with poultry litter ...

Deformable Medical Image Registration: A Survey [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2013
Deformable image registration is a fundamental task in medical image processing. Among its most important applications, one may cite: 1) multi-modality fusion, where information acquired by different imaging devices or protocols is fused to facilitate diagnosis and treatment planning; 2) longitudinal studies, where temporal structural or anatomical ...

Deformable image registration

IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2005, 2005
The paper describes a novel deformable data registration algorithm. The proposed method can be seen as a tradeoff between the landmark and intensity driven data registration techniques. The algorithm is fast, robust and offers high registration accuracy. The algorithm enables to include complex constraints on the allowable data deformations.

Deformable Registration for Dose Accumulation

Seminars in Radiation Oncology, 2019
As deformable image registration makes its way into the clinical routine, the summation of doses from fractionated treatment regimens to evaluate cumulative doses to targets and healthy tissues is also becoming a frequently utilized tool in the context of image-guided adaptive radiotherapy.

Gait Recognition by Deformable Registration

2018 IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Workshops (CVPRW), 2018
This paper describes a method of gait recognition robust against intra-subject posture changes. A person sometimes walks with changing his/her posture when looking down at a smartphone or carrying a heavy object, which makes intra-subject variation large and consequently makes gait recognition difficult. We therefore introduce a deformable registration

Digital Homeomorphisms in Deformable Registration

2007
A common goal in deformable registration applications is to produce a spatial transformation that is diffeomorphic, thereby preserving the topology of structures being transformed. Because this constraint is typically enforced only on the continuum, however, topological changes can still occur within discretely sampled images.

Deformable registration with excessive deformation correction for lung lesions

Proceedings of 2012 IEEE-EMBS International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics, 2012
Deformable registration is essential to map the radiotherapy plan onto treatment images of the patient. However, deformable registration may introduce excessive deformation into tumor volume, shape and location. In this paper, our proposed registration method aims to correct the local excessive deformation on tumor while retaining the global ...

Deformable Image Registration Using Functions of Bounded Deformation

IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2019
Deformable image registration is a widely used technique in the field of computer vision and medical image processing. Basically, the task of deformable image registration is to find the displacement field between the moving image and the fixed image. Many variational models are proposed for deformable image registration, under the assumption that the ...
