Coseismic Kinematics and Early Afterslip Evolution of the 2025 Mw ${\mathbf{M}}_{\mathbf{w}}$ 7.1 Dingri Earthquake (Southern Tibet) From Space Geodesy

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 22, 28 November 2025.
Abstract The 2025 Mw ${\mathrm{M}}_{\mathrm{w}}$ 7.1 Dingri earthquake is a large normal‐faulting event within the Southern Tibet Rift System. We use space‐borne radar interferometry to investigate both coseismic rupture and ∼3‐month early afterslip. Results show that this event ruptured a west‐dipping (48°) fault, exhibiting a predominant normal dip ...

Dynamics of Downdrafts Around a Growing Convective Cloud: A Numerical Study

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 130, Issue 22, 28 November 2025.
Abstract We examine the dynamics of cloud‐edge downdrafts over the growth phase of isolated cumuli, combining Eulerian and Lagrangian analyses. As in previous studies, our results show that growing cumuli are surrounded by downdrafts linked to cloud‐scale quasi‐toroidal circulations at all times at middle and upper cloud levels consistent with the ...

Modulation of Eddy Kinetic Energy by Seasonal Extension of the Eastern Weddell Gyre

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 21, 16 November 2025.
Abstract Active eddies in the eastern Weddell Gyre (WG) facilitate water mass exchange between the WG and warmer Antarctic Circumpolar Current, driving warm inflow into the WG. Using observations and data‐assimilating model output, the impact of seasonal extension of the eastern WG on the local eddy kinetic energy (EKE) field was investigated.
