Defrosting instructions: A response

Cambridge Opera Journal, 2004
The title of this issue, ‘Performance Studies and Opera’, optimistically announces a conjunction between two disciplines that have previously had surprisingly little to do with each other, despite substantial common ground. The three articles gathered here, however, bear marks both of the excitement sparked by the novelty of bringing the methods of ...

Solution of Defrost Model

2015
The differential equations describing heat and mass transfer during each stage of defrost are solved, and results are compared to measurement. Numerical solutions for defrost Stages I and II are obtained, while an analytical solution for Stage III is possible. For Stage I, the duration of the stage is predicted and validated by experiment. For Stage II,

Multi-stage Defrost Model

2015
A comprehensive one-dimensional model is developed for heat and mass transfer in each stage of the defrost process. The model describes sublimation, vapor transport, liquid melting and evaporation on a heated vertical surface in each of three distinct stages of the defrost process: diffusion, melting-permeation and dry out.

Microwave defrosting of coal

Coke and Chemistry, 2014
In cold climates, there is great interest in restore the friability of frozen material and to prevent the material from freezing in the first place. Coke plants often employ methods based on heating frozen coal by means of some hot material, but that approach has several shortcomings. A new method based on electromagnetic energy is proposed.

Defrosting Idioms

2010
