HPR1000 pressurizer degassing system design and analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research
In the Hualong-1 Unit (HPR1000), the hydrogen (H2) concentration should be reduced to 15 mL (STP)/kg 24 h before reactor shutdown when the reactor vessel is scheduled to be opened.

Determination of volatiles in volcanic rocks and minerals with a Directly Coupled Evolved Gas Analyzing System (DEGAS) -Part I: Interpretation of degassing profiles (DEGAS-profiles) of minerals and rocks on the basis of melting experiments

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 2005
Volatile components in magma strongly influence many physical properties of melts and minerals. The temperature resolved degassing analysis of volcanic crystalline and vitreous rocks gives detailed information about volatile compounds in the ...

Degassing of Aluminum Alloy Melts by High Shear Melt Conditioning Technology: An Overview

open access: yesMetals, 2022
The search for more efficient methods for degassing aluminum alloy melts has always been of great interest for the metal industry because the presence of hydrogen and oxides in the melts’ prior casting was detrimental to the integrity and properties of ...

Effect of Endogenous Methane Production: A Step Forward in the Validation of Biochemical Methane Potential (BMP) Tests

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
This work evaluates the influence of the inoculum type, the pre-consumption of the residual substrate and the ratio of blanks’ headspace volume to working volume (Hv Wv−1, 0.6 to 10) on Biochemical Methane Potential (BMP) measurements when methane is ...

High-Shear De-Gassing and De-Ironing of an Aluminum Casting Alloy Made Directly from Aluminum End-of-Life Vehicle Scrap

open access: yesRecycling, 2021
High-shear melt conditioning (HSMC) technology was used for degassing and de-ironing of an aluminum alloy recovered from the Zorba cast fraction of the non-ferrous scrap from shredded end-of-life vehicles. The results showed that the recovery of aluminum

Additive Manufacturing of Alumina‐Reinforced Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Vat‐photopolymerized elastomers reinforced with platelet‐shaped alumina exhibited preferential orientation, reduced porosity, and significantly enhanced mechanical performance. A 3 wt% platelet loading increased tensile strength from 12.4 to 45.7 MPa, highlighting the critical role of filler morphology in elastomeric VPP composites.

FastNano Liquid: An Automated Platform for Small‐Angle X‐ray Scattering‐Based Materials Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present FastNano Liquid, an automated small‐ and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering platform for the combined synthesis and characterization of (nano)materials. The platform is coupled to varied reactor workflows for both in situ studies of reaction kinetics and ex situ screening of synthesis conditions to support machine learning‐guided exploration ...

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

First hydroacoustic recording of ebullition events in an active volcanic lake – Poás, Costa Rica

open access: yesVolcanica
This study demonstrates how the sounds of subaqueous gas seeps can be used to measure the volume of volcanic gas being released into an active crater lake, weeks before an eruptive period.
