An extension of the linear regulator for degenerate diffusions

We study an extended stochastic control problem of the linear regulator for degenerate diffusions. We establish the existence of a classical solution of the degenerate Bellman equation by the technique of viscosity solutions, and the optimal policy is shown to exist from the optimality conditions.

Optimal filtering for degenerate nonlinear diffusions

The optimal filtering problem for a nonlinear stochastic system with a non-elliptic diffusion term is studied. Under a more general geometric assumption involving the system reachability, (which includes the strong elliptic case), a Zakai-like equation is derived, and the existence and unicity of the solution is proved.

Boundedness of Solutions to a Degenerate Diffusion Equation

The diffusion equation with a bounded saturation range under the time derivative and with Robin boundary conditions is shown to admit a regular bounded solution provided that the saturation function and the permeability coefficient have controlled decay at infinity.
