Extension of the Morris-Shore transformation to multilevel ladders

open access: yes, 2010
We describe situations in which chains of N degenerate quantum energy levels, coupled by time-dependent external fields, can be replaced by independent sets of chains of length N, N-1,...,2 and sets of uncoupled single states.

Magnetoelectronic states of a monolayer graphite [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
The Peierl's tight-binding model, with the band Hamiltonian matrix, is used to calculate the magnetoelectronic structure of a monolayergraphite. There are many flat Landau levels and some oscillatory Landau levels. The low Landau-level energies are characterized by a simple relation, not for others.

Multiscale dynamics of open three-level quantum systems with two quasi-degenerate levels [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 48, 275304 (2015), 2014
We consider a three-level quantum system interacting with a bosonic thermal reservoir. Two energy levels of the system are nearly degenerate but well separated from the third one. The system-reservoir interaction constant is larger than the energy difference of the degenerate levels, but it is smaller than the separation between the latter and the ...

Spin- and valley-dependent magneto-optical properties of MoS2

open access: yes, 2013
We investigate the behavior of low-energy electrons in two-dimensional molybdenum disulfide when submitted to an external magnetic field. Highly degenerate Landau levels form in the material, between which light-induced excitations are possible.

Astrocyte remodeling without gliosis precedes optic nerve axonopathy

open access: yesActa Neuropathologica Communications, 2018
Astroyctes serve myriad functions but are especially critical in white matter tracts, where energy-demanding axons propagate action potentials great distances between neurons.

High- and low-affinity cre boxes for CcpA binding in Bacillus subtilis revealed by genome-wide analysis

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2012
Background In Bacillus subtilis and its relatives carbon catabolite control, a mechanism enabling to reach maximal efficiency of carbon and energy sources metabolism, is achieved by the global regulator CcpA (carbon catabolite protein A).

Atomic-like behaviors and orbital-related Luttinger liquid in carbon nano-peapod quantum dots [PDF]

open access: yesDans European Nano Systems Worshop - ENS 2005, Paris : France (2005), 2007
We report influence of encapsulated C60 molecules on electron transport in carbon-nanotube peapod quantum dots. We find atomic-like behaviors with doubly degenerate electronic levels, which exist only around ground states, by single electron spectroscopy measured at low back-gate voltages (Vbg). Correlation with presence of nearly free electrons (NFEs)

Thermal shift of the resonance between an electron gas and quantum dots: what is the origin?

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
The operation of quantum dots (QDs) at highest possible temperatures is desirable for many applications. Capacitance–voltage spectroscopy ( C ( V )-spectroscopy) measurements are an established instrument to analyse the electronic structure and energy ...

Fractional Chern Insulator

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2011
Chern insulators are band insulators exhibiting a nonzero Hall conductance but preserving the lattice translational symmetry. We conclusively show that a partially filled Chern insulator at 1/3 filling exhibits a fractional quantum Hall effect and rule ...

Quantum Invariants of the Pairing Hamiltonian [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
Quantum invariants of the orbit dependent pairing problem are identified in the limit where the orbits become degenerate. These quantum invariants are simultaneously diagonalized with the help of the Bethe ansatz method and a symmetry in their spectra relating the eigenvalues corresponding to different number of pairs is discussed.
