Investigating the Role of Geometry in Solar Water Heating: A Case Study of Cylindrical and Frustum Buckets

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study studies the effect of bucket shape and geometry on the performance of solar water heating systems. Three plexiglass (PMMA) buckets were chosen: cylindrical, frustum, and inverted frustum. Each bucket has a capacity of 13 L and 3 mm wall thickness.

Numerical Study on the Effect of Structural Variation of S‐Shaped Flow Channel Absorber on the Thermal Performance of Line‐Focusing Fresnel Lens Solar Collector

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As a clean and renewable energy source, solar energy development and utilization have garnered significant attention. This study investigates the potential of Fresnel lenses to enhance the thermal efficiency of solar collectors by analyzing the effects of water flow channel structure and flow rate on heat gain.

Lattice Boltzmann Method Simulations About Shale Gas Diffusion in Sinusoidal Channels

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This paper characterizes the microscopic features of shale nanopores using sinusoidal functions and investigates the diffusion effects of methane gas in irregular nanopores through the lattice Boltzmann method. The result shows that methane is significantly influenced by large‐amplitude protrusions of the wall.

Space‐Time Modeling and Numerical Simulations of Non‐Newtonian Fluids Using Internal Variables

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, EarlyView.
Based on Hamilton's principle, the study focuses on a novel strategy for the modeling of non‐Newtonian fluids with the help of internal variables. Here, the viscosity evolves locally in space and time. Three configurations are numerically implemented, namely channel flow, a benchmark, and a lid‐driven cavity.
