An Improved Mesh Stiffness Model for a Gear Tooth With Double Cracks on Both Sides Considering Opened and Closed States

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Research on the failure mechanisms of gears with multiple cracks has gained widespread attention. Among these, the study of the mesh stiffness characteristics of gears with multiple cracks is crucial for optimizing gear design and improving transmission reliability.

Local environment and sampling bias drive parasite prevalence estimates in freshwater fish communities

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Parasite occurrence and infection estimates vary through time and space, making understanding the underlying drivers highly complex. Comparative studies based on empirical data must consider the factors of variation involved in estimating infection metrics in natural populations to make appropriate and reliable comparisons. Using a multi‐scale approach,

Sustainable two‐step functionalization of carbon fibers (CFs) with polyethyleneimine and investigation of curing kinetics in composite materials

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
We followed the functionalization steps outlined in the figure to obtain carbon fibers (CFs) functionalized with branched polyethyleneimine (b‐PEI). The entire process was carried out under mild conditions, including plasma activation and low‐temperature heating, using an eco‐friendly solvent (water).

Effects of oxidation and silanization on the durability and tensile properties of carbon nanotube‐reinforced vinyl‐ester nanocomposites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the functionalization, processing steps, and tensile properties of carbon nanotube‐reinforced vinyl ester nanocomposites. Abstract Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have received significant attention due to their exceptional physical and mechanical properties. Advancements in surface modification techniques have facilitated their use
