An Inconsistent ENSO Response to Northern Hemisphere Stadials Over the Last Deglaciation

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
The dynamics shaping the El Niño‐Southern Oscillation's (ENSO) response to present and future climate change remain unclear, partly due to limited paleo‐ENSO records spanning past abrupt climate events.

The Tuupovaara end moraine in North Karelia, Eastern Finland - an ice-marginal formation of the same age as the Salpausselkä ridges [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 1983
Described in this report is a previously for the most part unknown ice-marginal formation in the province of North Karelia extending from the parish of Värtsilä via Tohmajärvi and Tuupovaara to the parish of Ilomantsi.

Enhanced rock-slope failure following ice-sheet deglaciation : timing and causes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This research was supported by NERC Cosmogenic Isotope Analysis Facility [Grant Number: 9046.0308]The temporal pattern of rock-slope failures (RSFs) following Late Pleistocene deglaciation on tectonically stable terrains is controversial: previous ...

Isoetes ×atruensis (Isoetaceae – Lycopodiopsida), a new interspecific sterile hybrid from Rajasthan of Western India

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Isoetes ×atruensis hyb. nov. is shown to be a triploid (2n = 3× = 33 + 1) sterile interspecific hybrid between diploid (2n = 2× = 22 + 1) I. coromandelina and tetraploid (2n = 4× = 44 + 1) I. rajasthanensis. It has been found in two locations in Rajasthan, India.

The impact of Holocene deglaciation and glacial dynamics on the landscapes and geomorphology of Potter Peninsula, King George Island (Isla 25 Mayo), NW Antarctic Peninsula

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
The timing and impact of deglaciation and Holocene readvances on the terrestrial continental margins of the Antarctic Peninsula (AP) have been well-studied but are still debated.

Speleothem Paleoclimatology for the Caribbean, Central America, and North America [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Speleothem oxygen isotope records from the Caribbean, Central, and North America reveal climatic controls that include orbital variation, deglacial forcing related to ocean circulation and ice sheet retreat, and the influence of local and remote sea ...

Assessing the Vulnerability of an Inuit Archaeological Site in a Changing Periglacial Environment: A Novel Multimethod Geophysical Approach in Arctic Geoarchaeology

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT With northern regions warming at twice the global rate, assessing the state of archaeological sites in these areas is critically important. In this study, we used a multimethod geophysical approach (ERT, GPR, and EMI) to characterize the current geocryological conditions of an Inuit archaeological site on South Aulatsivik Island (Labrador ...

Early Holocene jökulhlaup chronology and deglaciation dynamics in central Iceland

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Glacial lake outburst floods (jökulhlaups) have occurred throughout the Quaternary in glaciated regions worldwide. Reconstructing flood chronology yields insight into deglaciation processes, environmental change and the role of extreme events in landscape evolution.
