Laryngeal Reinnervation vs Type I Thyroplasty in Unilateral Vocal Fold Paralysis (VOCALIST): A Randomized Feasibility Study

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
VOCALIST feasibility study demonstrated that conducting a multi‐centre phase III randomized controlled trial comparing laryngeal reinnervation and type I thyroplasty for unilateral vocal fold paralysis (UVFP) in UK is achievable. Recruitment, randomization, and data collection were successful, and outcome measures for voice, swallowing, and quality of ...

Development of a Core Outcome Set for Intervention Studies in Adults With Laryngotracheal Stenosis

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
We used a rigorous two round Delphi process informed by multiple stakeholder groups to gain consensus on seven core outcomes for inclusion in future research relating to adults with laryngotracheal stenosis. Use of this core outcome set will standardise outcomes measured in future research studies, ensuring they are comparable. ABSTRACT Objective Adult

Pill Shape Determines Esophageal Transit Times—A Pill‐to‐Pill Study

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.

Toll Like Receptors in the Larynx: Implications for Laryngeal Immunology

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
TLR were identified in the murine and human vocal fold epithelium with slight differences in localization from true to false vocal folds in humans. In immortalized human vocal, fold epithelial cell cultures, no significant differences in relative gene expression at 24 h were observed – for TLRs 1‐9 and IL8 – with and without LPS stimulation.
