Multimedia telecommunication quality with temporal discrete degradation
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1996The importance of considering the time-variant factors in the evaluation of multimedia telecommunication quality is discussed from the viewpoints of future multimedia networds and services. The quality degradation caused by bit erorrs in LD-CELP and ADPCM codecs was measured under conditions of variable speech-sample duration, a varying number of ...

Degradation detection for telecommunication networks using time varying binomial distribution models
IEEE SMC'99 Conference Proceedings. 1999 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (Cat. No.99CH37028), 2003We deal with the degradation detection problem in telecommunication gateways. The time series to be monitored is non-stationary but almost periodic (pseudo-periodic). The authors propose a technique called "optimization of partition model" which generates local stationary models for a pseudo-periodic time series.

One of the significant problems that high-tech companies are facing is the management and monitoring of networks in order to provide better and more reliable services for their customers. This paper introduces a new approach for the prediction of network failure and performance degradation using Joint Clustering and Association Analysis approach (JCAA).

Environmental Degradation of Telecommunication Hardware
1987This paper is a survey of the corrosion problems encountered in Bell Canada's telecommunication hardware. Specifically, the environmental attack on the outdoor metallic equipment will be addressed. These metallic parts include outdoor connectors, guy strands, lashing wires, guy hooks, cabinets, and manhole equipment.
