Extending adamic adar for cold-start problem in link prediction based on network metrics
The cold-start problem is a condition for a new node to join a network with no available information or an isolated node. Most studies use topological network information with the Triadic Closure principles to predict links in future networks.

Centralizers and Pseudo-Degree Functions [PDF]
We study centralizers in certain algebras with valuation in order to generalize results by Hellstr m and Silvestrov on centralizers in graded algebras. We prove that the centralizer of an element in the studied algebras is a free module over a certain ring. Under further assumptions we obtain that the centralizer is also commutative.

Testing a global city hypothesis : an assessment of polarization across US cities [PDF]
Social polarization is perhaps most evident within the world's large cities where we can easily observe stark contrasts between wealth and poverty. A world city theoretical perspective has emerged that associates large cities importance in a global ...

Betweenness Centrality of Fractal and Non-Fractal Scale-Free Model Networks and Tests on Real Networks [PDF]
We study the betweenness centrality of fractal and non-fractal scale-free network models as well as real networks. We show that the correlation between degree and betweenness centrality $C$ of nodes is much weaker in fractal network models compared to ...

This research examines four frequently used centrality indices—degree, closeness, betweenness, and eigenvectors—to understand the extent to which their clear theoretical distinctions are reflected in differences in empirical performance.

Changes in sensorimotor regions of the cerebral cortex in congenital amusia: a case-control study
Perceiving pitch is a central function of the human auditory system; congenital amusia is a disorder of pitch perception. The underlying neural mechanisms of congenital amusia have been actively discussed.

Numerical Investigation of Metrics for Epidemic Processes on Graphs
This study develops the epidemic hitting time (EHT) metric on graphs measuring the expected time an epidemic starting at node $a$ in a fully susceptible network takes to propagate and reach node $b$.

Inter-Provincial Railroad Network in China [PDF]
Using Social Network Analysis (SNA), this paper examines the inter-provincial logistics relationships in China. Based on the annual data of inter-provincial railway logistics quantity during the period 1998-2009, the degree of interconnection between ...
