Powers of the degree of coherence
We establish conditions under which a legitimate degree of coherence of a statistically stationary beam-like field raised to a power results in a novel legitimate degree of coherence. The general results and examples relate to scalar beams having uniform and non-uniform correlations.

Degree of coherence for electromagnetic fields
The relationship between the visibility of fringes and the degree of spatial coherence in electromagnetic two-pinhole interference is assessed. It is demonstrated that the customary definition of the degree of coherence of an electromagnetic field is flawed and a new quantity, free of the formal drawbacks, is introduced.

Coherence in the radial degree of freedom
Coherence quantifies the statistical fluctuations in an optical field and has been extensively studied in the space, time, and polarization degrees of freedom. In the context of space, coherence theory has been formulated between two transverse positions as well as between two azimuthal positions, referred to as transverse spatial coherence and angular

Random pulse source with the temporal multi-complex degree of coherence
Based on the coherence theory, the non-stationary optical fields with the complex degree of coherence (CDOC) are expanded from stationary fields, and random pulse sources with temporal multi-complex degree of coherence (TMCDOC) is introduced. Theoretical

Polarization dependent beaming properties of a plasmonic lattice laser
We study beaming properties of laser light produced by a plasmonic lattice overlaid with organic fluorescent molecules. The crossover from spontaneous emission regime to stimulated emission regime is observed in response to increasing pump fluence.

Determination of a source’s temporal coherence function via depolarization in liquid crystal [PDF]
Based on the fact that the degree of polarization of a light source is given in terms of the absolute value of its complex degree of coherence, we design a depolarization experiment using a variable retarder in which we measured the degree of ...

Empirical Bayesian Estimation of the Interferometric SAR Coherence Magnitude
SAR interferometry has developed rapidly in recent years and now allows measurements of subtle deformation of the Earth's surface with millimeter accuracy. All state-of-the-art processing methods require a precise coherence estimate. However, this
