Mechanical Activation of Mixtures SiO2/γ-Fe2O3 and its Impact on the Distribution of Valence Electrons

open access: yesФізика і хімія твердого тіла, 2016
Crystalline and electronic structures of SiO2/γ-Fe2O3 mixtures have been analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and ultra-soft X-ray emission spectroscopy (USXES).

Nephrogenic Rests/Nephroblastomatosis in Patients With Unilateral Wilms Tumor Are Not Associated With an Increased Risk of Relapse: An Analysis of Patients Treated on the SIOP‐WT‐2001 Protocol in the SIOP‐UK‐CCLG and SIOP‐GPOH Studies (2001–2022)

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Nephrogenic rests (NRs) and nephroblastomatosis (NBM) are precursor lesions for development of Wilms tumor (WT). Their association with the risk of relapse has not been properly assessed, partly due to misunderstanding of their diagnostic criteria and terminology.

Analysis of Cytosine Methylation in Genomic DNA of Solanum × michoacanum (+) S. tuberosum Somatic Hybrids

open access: yesAgronomy, 2021
Interspecific somatic hybridization is a noteworthy breeding strategy that allows the production of novel genetic variability when crossing barriers exist between two parental species.

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

An Endurance Equation for Hybrid-Electric Aircraft

open access: yesAerospace
This paper introduces a new endurance equation for a hybrid-electric aircraft. This research follows the derivation of a range equation for a hybrid-electric aircraft case using constant power split that was carried out by authors in their earlier work ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

The value of BAP1 immunocytochemistry and CDKN2A fluorescence in situ hybridization in diagnosis of serous effusion malignant mesothelioma and an analysis of the association between degree of cell atypia and the results of two auxiliary methods

open access: yesPolish Journal of Pathology, 2020
Malignant mesothelioma (MM) is a rare, highly aggressive tumor. The first symptom of MM is mostly serous effusion, and cytology can be used in diagnosis based on effusion, providing patients with an earlier diagnosis and treatment opportunity.

Can cryptic female choice prevent invasive hybridization in external fertilizing fish?

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications, 2023
Polyandrous mating systems result in females mating with multiple males, generating opportunities for strong pre‐mating and post‐mating sexual selection.
