Construction of weightwise perfectly balanced Boolean functions

open access: yesTongxin xuebao
In the context of homomorphic-friendly stream ciphers such as FLIP, weightwise perfectly balanced Boolean functions have become a hot topic in cryptography in recent years.

Grayscale Photomasks Enable Noncontact Optical Patterning of Hydroxypropyl Cellulose Gels for Dynamic Art

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mask‐encoded UV exposure translates digital color information into pixel‐resolved structural‐color patterns in hydroxypropyl cellulose gels. Gaussian‐process‐guided calibration links UV processing conditions, wavelength, and mask opacity, enabling parallel fabrication of multicolor images in a single 10 s exposure.

Stabilization of Strongly Reduced Fe(I) Single Atom Species Coordinated in a 2D Self‐Assembled Metal–Organic Network

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A graphene‐supported 2D metal–organic network stabilizes highly reactive Fe(I)‐N4 single sites through Co‐induced charge redistribution. Combined experiments and theory reveal Fe(I) formation, oxygen‐driven oxidation, and O2 activation mechanisms, offering a strategy to access low‐valent iron centers relevant to catalytic and biological processes ...

Mechanistic Origins of Chemo‐Mechanical Instability and Failure in Solid‐State Lithium‐Sulfur Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Conversion‐induced sulfur expansion generates strong mechanical constraints and localized stresses within solid‐state Li‐S cathodes. Heterogeneous solid‐electrolyte confinement creates tensile strain‐energy hotspots that govern particle cracking. Larger sulfur particles accelerate fracture, while higher porosity relaxes constraint and delays damage ...

Defect‐Mediated Inelastic Light Scattering by Infrared Phonons in Hexagonal Boron Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optically active defects in hexagonal boron nitride enable inelastic stimulated light scattering mediated by infrared‐active phonons, relaxing conventional Raman selection rules. Defect engineering enhances the Stokes‐conversion process and activates both TO‐ and LO‐phonon scattering channels.

Hydrogels Augmented With Artificial Sweeteners can Inhibit Multidrug‐Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii Growth and Biofilm Formation While Demonstrating Safety in Pre‐Clinical Pilot Human Trials

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Using PVA–borax hydrogels as carriers for off‐the‐shelf artificial sweeteners to fight multidrug‐resistant A. baumannii. These soft, biocompatible hydrogels rapidly reduce bacterial viability within multidrug‐resistant A. baumannii biofilms by more than 99% within one hour and sustain antimicrobial activity over time, while demonstrating safety in both
