Abstract Commercial polyethersulfone (Udel ® 1800) based on 4,4′-dihydroxy-2,2-diphenylpropane (bisphenol-A) and dichlorodiphenylsulfone was post-sulfonated using trimethylsilyl chlorosulfonate under mild conditions. The partially sulfonated polyethersulfones were investigated by 1 H and 13 C NMR in their acid and/or sodium salt form.

Abstract The potential use of deep eutectic solvents (DESs) for anhydrous conductivity of sulfonated polysulfone membrane is presented. To this end, different molar ratios of sodium bromide as hydrogen bond acceptor (HBA) and ethylene glycol as hydrogen bond donor (HBD) are used for the synthesis of DESs.

A Simple and Rapid Method to Determine Sulfonation Degree of Lignosulfonates
BioEnergy Research, 2019Sulfonation degree is an important structural parameter of lignosulfonates which affect their water solubility, surface activity, and dispersing performance. Presently, the methods for determining sulfonation degree include elemental analysis and potentiometric titration; they have some shortcomings such as complex purification process, high equipment ...

Charged membranes prepared by SPEEK of very low degree of sulfonation
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2013AbstractNovel charged membranes were prepared with sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK). Methylsulfonic acid was used as solvent to accommodate the very low degree of sulfonation of the SPEEK. Membranes were prepared by immersion phase inversion method, using coagulation baths of different composition and temperature.

The structure and dynamics of sulfonated polystyrene (SPS) acid copolymers were investigated using X-ray scattering and broadband dielectric relaxation spectroscopy (DRS). Evidence of acid group aggregation was found at 3.5, 6.7, and 9.5 mol % sulfonation. An increase in the segmental relaxation time and dielectric relaxation strength was observed with

Abstract The properties of sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) membranes with various degree of sulfonation (DS) and casting solvent are investigated for vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB). The optimum DS of SPEEK membrane is firstly confirmed by various characterizations such as physicochemical properties, ion selectivity, and VRFB single ...

The effects of the degree of sulfonation (DS) and molecular weight (MW) of sulfonated phenolic resins (SPF) on the flow properties of cementitious materials were investigated. SPF resin was prepared from phenol, formaldehyde, and sodium bisulfite through a four-step reaction. It was found that an increase in either DS or MW would enhance the dispersion

Abstract Sulfonated poly (ether ether ketone)s (SPEEKs) with different values of sulfonation degree were successfully synthesized by a direct aromatic nucleophilic substitution polymerization of sulfonated monomers. By the direct-synthesis method, the number of sulfonic acid groups can be precisely controlled.
