Degree Reduction for NURBS Symbolic Computation on Curves

IEEE International Conference on Shape Modeling and Applications 2006 (SMI'06), 2006
Symbolic computation of NURBS plays an important role in many areas of NURBS-based geometric computation and design. However, any nontrivial symbolic computation, especially when rational B-splines are involved, would typically result in B-splines with high degrees.

On the Reduction of Bias of Ratio Estimator to a Desired Degree

Biometrical Journal, 1979
AbstractThis paper advocates a procedure of obtaining an estimator (as a linear combination of a set of ratio estimators) whose bias can be reduced to a desired degree of sample size without any additional loss in efficiency.

Optimal Degree Reduction of Free Form Curves

1998
Optimal degree reductions, i.e. best approximations of n-th degree Bezier curves by Bezier curves of degree n - 1, with respect to different norms are studied. It is shown that for any Lp-norm the Euclidean degree reduction where the norm is applied to the Euclidean distance function of two curves is identical to component-wise degree reduction.

On Kulkarni's theorems on degree reduction for polynomial modules

Mathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, 2003
In this paper results of \textit{U. Kulkarni} [J. Algebra 224, No. 2, 248-262 (2000; Zbl 0958.20006)] are generalized from the case of polynomial representations of a general linear group to the case of representations of an arbitrary reductive group \(G\). First the author must find an interpretation of the skew Schur modules \(L_{\lambda'/\mu'}\) of \
