Membrane Triangles with Drilling Degrees of Freedom

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2004
An accurate triangular plane element with drilling degrees of freedom is shown in this paper. This element can be successfully used for solving linear and nonlinear problems.

Photoswitching Conduction in Framework Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This mini‐review summarizes recent advances in state‐of‐the‐art proton and electron conduction in framework materials that can be remotely and reversibly switched on and off by light. It discusses the various photoswitching conduction mechanisms and the strategies employed to enhance photoswitched conductivity.

Network Theory | Networks of Power, Degrees of Freedom

open access: yesInternational Journal of Communication, 2011
The article offers a conceptual framework for describing freedom and power in terms of human behavior in multiple overlapping systems. Power and freedom describe relations of influence and susceptibility over the principles, policies, perceptions and ...

Simulating conical intersection dynamics in the condensed phase with hybrid quantum master equations

open access: yes, 2019
We present a framework for simulating relaxation dynamics through a conical intersection of an open quantum system that combines methods to approximate the motion of degrees of freedom with disparate time and energy scales.

Mechanical Properties of Architected Polymer Lattice Materials: A Comparative Study of Additive Manufacturing and CAD Using FEM and µ‐CT

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how pore shape and manufacturing‐induced deviations affect the mechanical properties of 3D‐printed lattice materials with constant porosity. Combining µ‐CT analysis, FEM, and compression testing, the authors show that structural imperfections reduce stiffness and strength, while bulk material inhomogeneities probably enhance ...

Self-organization and autonomy: Emergence of degrees of freedom in dynamical systems

open access: yesFilosofia Unisinos, 2016
Approached from the point of view of the basic processes that constitute the self-organization of living systems, autonomy means the generation of identity and the minimal unity of a system, as a consequence of the self-production of internal components

The Realization of Multidirectional, Free‐Standing 3D Plasmonic Nanostructures via 3D Nanoprinting: A Case Study of Fractal Antennas

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Free‐standing plasmonic gold‐based fractal antennas are fabricated by 3D nanoprinting, employing focused electron beam induced deposition and an optimized purification method to remove carbon while conserving structural fidelity. Simulation and experiment show broadband plasmonic activity, including customizable polarizability, thereby paving the way ...

Multifunctional Microstructured Surfaces by Microcontact Printing of Reactive Microgels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Reactive poly(N‐vinylcaprolactam‐co‐glycidyl methacrylate) microgels are used as functional inks to create surface‐grafted arrays on glass via microcontact printing. The patterns (10–50 µm widths and spacings) enable stable binding and post‐functionalization with dyes and peptides.

Analysis and Calculation of DOF of Multi-loop Coupling Mechanism based on Constraint Normal Line

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2022
Since spatial multi-loop coupling mechanisms are more complicated than spatial parallel mechanisms, and the coupling members are more restrained by the side effects of motion between kinematic chains, a new method for calculating degrees of freedom (DOF)
