Influence of Tracheostomy Level on Surgical Management of Pediatric Airway Stenosis
The Laryngoscope, EarlyView.Tracheostomy location is a critical determinant of surgical complexity and outcomes in pediatric laryngotracheal stenosis. Misplacement may lead to longer tracheal resections, an increased need for stoma relocation, more complex reconstruction, and secondary stenosis. Strategic planning of tracheostomy position can improve surgical outcomes.

Risk Analysis Index Versus mFI‐5 for Predicting Outcomes After Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty
The Laryngoscope, EarlyView.This retrospective database study of 2129 adults undergoing uvulopalatopharyngoplasty compared the risk analysis index (RAI) with the modified 5‐item frailty index (mFI‐5) for predicting 30‐day postoperative outcomes and found that frailty was associated with worse morbidity, prolonged hospitalization, non‐home discharge, and mortality.

The Laryngoscope, EarlyView.A 31 year old male presented with a penetrating oropharyngeal injury following a motor vehicle collision and was found to have a retained metallic foreign body suspected to be part of a vape pen. The foreign body was abutting the carotid artery and was removed via a combined transoral and transcervical approach.

Autologous Mastoid Cortex Bone Graft for Multilayer Repair of Lateral Skull Base Defects
The Laryngoscope, EarlyView.Multilayer repair of lateral skull base cerebrospinal fluid leaks and encephaloceles can be reinforced with rigid autologous grafts. Harvesting a monocortical mastoid cortex bone graft is effective and easy to implement without conferring additional morbidity.
