Particle Size Effects in Au/TiO2 Catalysts for the Oxidation of 5‐Hydroxymethylfurfural

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, 27 March 2026.
The oxidation of 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to 2,5‐furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA), important for bio‐based polymer production, is an excellent model reaction to study selective oxidation performance. We investigate the gold particle size effect in the oxidation of HMF and HMFCA to FDCA.

Infrared Nanospectroscopy for Catalysis and Electrochemistry: From Table‐Top Lasers to Synchrotron Radiation and Free Electron Lasers

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 3, March 2026.
This Concept highlights recent advances in infrared nanospectroscopy for catalysis and electrochemistry. By integrating atomic force microscopy with infrared spectroscopy, s‐SNOM and AFM‐IR enable nanoscale chemical spectroscopy. Developments in table‐top lasers, synchrotron radiation, and free electron laser sources broaden spectral access and ...

Cooperative Reactivity of Methylene‐Linked Bis‐Triazolylidene Ligands in Tungsten‐Catalyzed Alcohol Dehydrogenation

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 3, March 2026.
A tetracarbonyl tungsten complex bearing a bis‐triazolylidene ligand exhibits excellent catalytic activity in the acceptorless dehydrogenative coupling of 1‐phenylethanol and 2‐aminobenzyl alcohol to form 2‐phenylquinoline with H2 evolution. Mechanistic investigations combining experimental and DFT studies reveal the unprecedented base‐promoted ...

Modelling and simulation of hydrogen production via natural gas plasma pyrolysis

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 3, Page 1174-1189, March 2026.
Methane pyrolysis simulation model. Abstract Plasma pyrolysis is a cutting‐edge technology that produces hydrogen and solid carbon from methane without emitting carbon dioxide. In this study, we developed a process simulation model in Aspen HYSYS to analyze the behaviour of this technology at the commercial scale.
