Comparison of del Nido Cardioplegia and Blood Cardioplegia in Aortic Root Surgery.

open access: yesThe heart surgery forum, 2020
To compare del Nido cardioplegia (DNC) with conventional blood cardioplegia (BC) in aortic root surgery.Subjects who underwent aortic root surgery during a 3-year period were included. A DNC group was compared with a matched BC group.A total of 72 subjects were included, 36 who underwent DNC compared with 36 propensity-matched subjects who underwent BC.

Myocardial protection in paediatric cardiac surgery: building an evidence-based strategy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Cardioplegia is fundamental to the surgical repair of congenital heart defects by protecting the heart against ischaemia/reperfusion injury, characterised by low cardiac output and troponin release in the early postoperative period.

Is Modified Del Nido Cardioplegia as Effective as Del Nido Cardioplegia in Patients With Isolated Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery?

open access: yesThe Heart Surgery Forum, 2022
Objective: Is modified del Nido cardioplegia superior to del Nido cardioplegia in coronary artery bypass patients? Material and methods: All patients underwent cardiopulmonary bypass and retrospectively were analyzed. A total of 70 patients were included in the study.

Midterm postoperative outcomes of different types of surgical reconstruction of sinus venosus atrial septal defects with anomalous pulmonary venous connection: The Results of Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 6, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Background and Aims Sinus venosus atrial septal defects (SVASDs) constitute a substantial part of atrial septal defects and are usually characterized by anomalous pulmonary venous connection (APVC), causing complications like sinus node dysfunction and arrhythmias. Several surgical approaches are used for treating SVASDs in pediatric patients,

Aortic arch replacement and autologous pericardial tracheal patch for an aorto‐tracheal fistula

open access: yesJournal of Cardiac Surgery, Volume 37, Issue 12, Page 5472-5474, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Aorto‐tracheal fistulas are rare and highly lethal, with few reports of successful surgical intervention. We present a 48‐year‐old man with an aorto‐tracheal fistula induced by radiation therapy for tracheal squamous cell carcinoma. He presented with hemoptysis and chest pain and workup revealed the aorta‐tracheal fistula between the posterior

Myocardial Protection in High-Risk Cardiopulmonary Bypass Support [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The development of cardioplegia has facilitated complex cardiac surgery and allowed high-risk patients to safely tolerate life-saving procedures. By following the principles of electromechanical arrest, inducing hypothermia, and using adjunctive agents ...

Evaluation of right ventricular performance in patients with postoperative congenital heart disease using Doppler tissue imaging and cardiopulmonary bypass indices: A prospective cohort study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 5, Issue 6, November 2022., 2022
Abstract Background and Aims Postoperative cardiac outcomes after intracardiac repair (ICR) are determined by numerous factors whereas right ventricle (RV) dysfunction is considered essential for them, as only few studies attempted to evaluate it postsurgically.

Del Nido cardioplegia in coronary surgery: a propensity-matched analysis [PDF]

open access: yesInteractive CardioVascular and Thoracic Surgery, 2020
AbstractOBJECTIVESDel Nido cardioplegia (DNC) has been shown to be safe in adults with normal coronary arteries who are undergoing valve surgery. This study compared the effects of DNC versus traditional blood-based cardioplegia on postoperative complications in patients who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).METHODSA retrospective ...
