Bed‐level tools for monitoring erosion and accretion patterns: Flume validation and field testing

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, EarlyView.
Abstract Monitoring short‐term changes in surface sediment elevation is fundamental to understanding erosion, transport, and deposition dynamics in shallow coastal environments. However, commonly used field approaches, such as horizontal markers, sediment erosion tables, subsurface sediment plates, or erosion pins, are not always cross‐validated under ...

Time-Varying SAR Interference Suppression Based on Delay-Doppler Iterative Decomposition Algorithm

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Narrow-band interference (NBI) and Wide-band interference (WBI) are critical issues for synthetic aperture radar (SAR), which degrades the imaging quality severely.

Structural Variation Sequencing of 26 Amniotic Fluid Samples With Partial Gene Duplications and Postnatal Follow‐Up of the Fetuses

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Partial gene duplications (PGDups) are a significant contributor to genetic disease. The precise genomic location and structure of PGDups are often unresolved using conventional methods, so prenatal diagnosis for PGDups is challenging, especially without ultrasound abnormalities.

Joint Detection and Delay-Doppler Estimation Algorithms for MIMO Radars

open access: yes
In this paper, we consider the joint detection and localization (in the delay-Doppler domain) of targets by using Multiple-Input Multiple-Output radars.

Modulation of wind drag by tidal currents in an embayment

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Tidal currents modulate how wind energy enters the surface wave field by influencing both wave drag and wave generation. In Shark Bay, following currents reduce effective wave steepness and wind drag, and opposing currents enhance wave growth. Wind energy is partitioned between wave drag and the creation of new waves, explaining observed tidal ...

Observations and numerical simulations of a valley‐exit wind in the Alpine Bolzano basin

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
The evolution and spreading of the nocturnal valley‐exit wind flowing from the Isarco Valley into the Bolzano basin, in the Italian Alps, are found to be influenced by the basin temperature stratification. Measurements and high‐resolution simulations show that a cold‐air pool favors an upward trajectory of the flow at the exit of the valley.

Motion Parameter Estimation of Doppler-Ambiguous Moving Targets in SAR-GMTI

open access: yes, 2007
In an along-track interferometric SAR system, the discrete sampling of moving target signals can give rise to two types of ambiguity: Doppler ambiguity, and interferometric angle ambiguity.

Delay and Doppler spreads in underwater acoustic particle velocity channels

open access: yes, 2011
Signal processing and communication in acoustic particle velocity channels using vector sensors are of interest in the underwater medium. Due to the presence of multiple propagation paths, a mobile receiver collects the signal with different delays and ...

Enabling Under Ice Glider Operations: A Backseat Driver Approach

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Polar Oceans are key locations for forcing global ocean circulation, influencing both global climate and biogeochemical cycles. Due to restricted access to these seasonally and perennially ice‐covered regions, these areas are severely undersampled.
