End-to-end delay percentiles for video traces using a MAP2 approximation
2012 15th International Telecommunications Network Strategy and Planning Symposium (NETWORKS), 2012Video traffic is widely expected to account for a large portion of the traffic in future wired and wireless networks. We propose an efficient and accurate approximation method for calculating a given percentile of the end-to-end delay of a video stream depicted by a trace.

Real-time high percentile tracking of quasi-exponential delays
IEEE INFOCOM '93 The Conference on Computer Communications, Proceedings, 2002In many applications certain parameters of a system should be set on the basis of some large percentiles of a delay random variable, for which the characteristics may not be known or may change slowly with time. Assuming that sample values of delays are available sequentially, the authors obtain a simple algorithm to track two key statistical ...

Dynamic load balancing for delay CDF α-percentile optimization with a global view
2015 IEEE 26th Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor, and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC), 2015Load balancing and delay optimizing play significant roles in improving network performance. However, in the current networks, only local load balance (LB) and mean delay optimization mechanisms are adopted, which ignore the jitter and the network's status.

Abstract We present and use a CPU-efficient activity-based simulation model to calculate the sojourn time of a packet and the packet loss rate in a tandem queueing network that depicts the path of a video flow. The video flow is characterized by a packet trace.

When multiple patients are scheduled to receive regional blocks as part of their anesthetic, planning insufficient preoperative time can cause first-case operating room delays. Prediction of the time to perform multiple regional blocks depends on the probability distributions (e.g., 90th percentiles) of the procedure completion times.

On Designing Transport Networks With Latency Guarantees for Next‐Generation Services
Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications TechnologiesThis article presents an open‐source network simulator and digital twin focused on the analysis of latency in Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN). Our tool can estimate delay percentiles between pairs of nodes, aiming to see if the MAN can support emerging ...
