On the Influence of Catalyst Mesopore Structure in the Catalytic Cracking of Polypropylene

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
Catalytic cracking is a promising approach to convert polyolefin plastics into hydrocarbons. Herein, the effect of catalyst pore size in polypropylene cracking using amorphous silica–alumina with identical external acidity, but varying mesopore diameters and particle sizes, is isolated. Mesopore size has minimal effect on activity, indicating that high

Circulating levels of reactive oxygen species in patients with nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy and the influence of antioxidant supplementation: 6-month follow-up [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The aim was to evaluate circulating levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and changes in central macular thickness (CMT) in patients with nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) after antioxidant supplementation.

Production of middle distillates through olefin oligomerization using ZSM‐5 as a catalyst

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract The global transportation sector relies heavily on gasoline (C5–C12) and diesel (C11–C24), which together account for approximately 60% of its energy needs. Driven by rapid industrialization and urbanization, diesel consumption is outpacing gasoline, with projections estimating global demand by 2035 at 27 million barrels per day for gasoline ...

Attention‐deficit hyperactivity disorder in children and young persons during the COVID‐19 pandemic. A temporal trends analysis of electronic heath records in Greater Manchester, England

open access: yesJCPP Advances, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The incidence of attention‐deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children and young people has increased in recent years. Disease frequency varies according to sociodemographic characteristics. There are seasonal patterns in ADHD diagnosis and prescribing with rates falling during school holidays.

Recycling End‐of‐Life Solid Oxide Cell Interconnect Assemblies into Commercial‐Grade AISI 304 Stainless Steels

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study validates a recycling pathway for converting interconnect assemblies from end‐of‐life SOC stacks into commercial‐grade AISI 304 steels. Using scrap‐based steelmaking operations, austenitic cast steels with <4.0% δ‐ferrite are successfully produced.

Light Curve Calculations of Supernovae from Fallback Gamma-Ray Bursts

open access: yes, 2007
The currently-favored model for long-duration gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) invokes explosions from the collapse of a massive star down to a black hole: either directly or through fallback.

Towards an anthropology of acquisition: ‘How did you get that?’ Vers une anthropologie de l'acquisition : « Où as‐tu trouvé ça ? »

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
The production‐distribution‐consumption triad has structured how anthropologists understand exchange for roughly a century. This article argues for expanding this triad to include an explicit focus on acquisition – the systems, processes, and practices of acquiring.

Mergers and Acquisitions as Navigators of Climate Policy Shocks: Evidence from the NOx Budget Trading Program

open access: yesFinancial Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We examine how mergers and acquisitions (M&As) enable firms to adapt to climate policy shocks. Exploiting the adoption of the Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) Budget Trading Program (NBP) across US states as an exogenous shock, we find that firms with NOx‐emitting plants subject to the NBP are more likely to engage in M&As, particularly through vertical ...
