Recent Advances in Catalytic Conversion of Bioethanol to 1,3‐Butadiene: Reaction Mechanism, Catalyst Design, and Process Scalability

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 1, January 2026.
Catalytic conversion of ethanol to 1,3‐butadiene (BD) can proceed via one‐step and two‐step routes. In the one‐step process, pure and metal‐modified MgO–SiO2 catalysts enable direct ethanol transformation to BD, while ZrO2‐based catalysts drive the two‐step pathway.

Synthesis and analysis of jet fuel from shale oil and coal syncrudes [PDF]

open access: yes
Thirty-two jet fuel samples of varying properties were produced from shale oil and coal syncrudes, and analyzed to assess their suitability for use. TOSCO II shale oil and H-COAL and COED syncrudes were used as starting materials. The processes used were

THE CONTESTED URBANISM OF ABANDONMENT: The Afterlife of Two Distressed Neighborhoods in Detroit

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban and Regional Research, Volume 50, Issue 1, Page 5-23, January 2026.
Abstract In post‐industrial cities in decline, what happens to leftover spaces after abandonment? This question lies at the root of trying to make sense of entrenched distress in neighborhoods in deindustrializing Detroit, a city struggling for more than five decades with disinvestment, job losses, population shrinkage, a collapsed housing market ...

Numerical Study of Cocombustion Characteristics of Ammonia and Coke Oven Gas

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This study investigates the combustion characteristics of hydrogen, methane, and coke oven gas (COG) blended with ammonia (NH3) using one‐dimensional simulations. The laminar burning velocity (LBV), adiabatic flame temperature, and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions were analyzed across different NH3 blending ratios (0%–100%).
