Postgraduate Medicine, 1989Herpes zoster may cause diagnostic confusion and mimic other diseases during the early stage before development of the characteristic rash. Although the disease is usually self-limited, oral acyclovir (Zovirax) shows promise in reducing the duration and severity of symptoms in uncomplicated cases.
