Acquisition under Mixed-Delay and Multiple-Delay Matching-to-Sample
Psychological Reports, 1973The acquisition of delayed matching to sample in two groups of pigeons was examined when three delay values (2, 4, and 6 sec.) were mixed across trials and when each of the three delay values was correlated with one of three standard stimuli (i.e., multiple delays).

Delayed match‐to‐sample performance in autistic children
Developmental Neuropsychology, 1995The involvement of temporal lobe structures in autism has found support in several animal and human studies. The delayed match‐ and nonmatch‐to‐sample paradigms are two tasks that are sensitive to temporal lobe and frontal lobe development and damage and may be useful in the study of autism.

Delayed matching to sample in first episode schizophrenia
Biological Psychiatry, 1995neurons in the rostral raphe cultures, but this was not statistically significant (maximal effect 15 %, p ~ 0.15). Preliminary studies of IL-6 reveal an enhancement of TH-positive neuron survival and no effect on 5-HT-positive neuronal survival. The opposing effects of IL-113 on the survival of fetal dopamine and serotonin neurons provide evidence that

Retrospective coding in pigeons' delayed matching-to-sample.
Journal of Experimental Psychology: Animal Behavior Processes, 1986In this study we examined how coding processes in pigeons' delayed matching-to-sample were affected by the stimuli to be remembered. In Experiment 1, two groups of pigeons initially learned 0-delay matching-to-sample with identical comparison stimuli (vertical and horizontal lines) but with different sample stimuli (red and green hues or vertical and ...

A Chaining Analogue to Delayed Matching to Sample
The Psychological Record, 1980Pigeons were trained on an analogue to a delayed matching-to-sample procedure requiring explicit, sample-specific, mediating responses during the delay. Each trial consisted of a three-link chain. The first and third links of the chain were the sample and choice components respectively of matching to sample.

Animal memory: A review of delayed matching-to-sample data
Behavioural Processes, 2015We performed a meta-analysis of over 90 data sets from delayed matching-to-sample (DMTS) studies with 25 species (birds, mammals, and bees). In DMTS, a sample stimulus is first presented and then removed. After a delay, two (or more) comparison stimuli are presented, and the subject is rewarded for choosing the one matching the sample.

Delayed matching to sample in pigeons: Effects of delay of reinforcement and illuminated delays
Learning and Motivation, 2015Abstract Pigeons show relatively poor memory when trained on 0-s delayed matching and tested with longer delays. We hypothesized that one reason for the effect of delay may be a loss of association between sample responding and reinforcement. To test this hypothesis, we compared the effect of standard delays inserted between the offset of the sample ...

Delayed Matching-to-Sample and Linear Series Training Structures
The Psychological Record, 2013In earlier experiments, the establishment of baseline relations using a delayed matching to sample (DMTS) trial format resulted in a high likelihood of forming equivalence classes (yield) that had many-to-one or one-to-many training structures. Because these training structures are associated with high yields, training structures instead of the delay ...

Sequential effects in pigeon delayed matching-to-sample performance.
Journal of Experimental Psychology: Animal Behavior Processes, 1983Pigeons were tested in a three-alternative delayed matching-to-sample task in which second-choices were permitted following first-choice errors. Sequences of responses both within and between trials were examined in three experiments. The first experiment demonstrates that the sample information contained in first-choice errors is not sufficient to ...
